Sights were dead on right out of the box. Shot tight groups at 20 yards. Recoil was light & noticeably less than my G23 gen 3. So glad I got this when I did. Pretty much the perfect CCW pistol for me.

Possibly the best EDC 40 Cal. On the market. Shoots extremely well and that’s after putting 2,000 rounds through it. Definitely would recommend to anyone in the market looking for an outstanding EDC weapon!

(4 out of 5) Pretty good gun
by from AIKEN, SC on

Ran 150 various 180 grain rounds through it with 1 failure to feed. Clean it and ran 100 rounds with 1 failure to feed. I have a few more rounds to use to break it in until i decide on one type to practice with and one for home defense. I am well pleased so far. Have been running federal, blazer brass, and agulia rounds so far.

Out of the case the sights are dead on. I have 300 rounds in it now without one mis-load. It's a nice pistol for the price, you can't go wrong.

by from Spring Lake, NC on

I did not hesitate to pick this up. Rear sight was crooked but that was a simple fix. I have no FTF or FTE issues. A nice clean and oil down after purchase is great. Solid piece of equipment and I expect it to last a long time.

(1 out of 5) Failure to eject out of the box
by from Northbrook, IL on

Got the gun and cleaned/lubricated it right away. All looked great until I fired the first shot at range. No case gets ejected after each shot and I have to chamber the slide every time for every single shot. Field stripped and all looks normal.
Perhaps it's a defect product. Sending it back to Smith & Wesson for repair. This is my first gun and bought it after reading all the good reviews. So disappointed!!!

(5 out of 5) So Impressed!
by from St. Cloud, MN on

I'd previously purchased a full sized M&P 2.0 and wanted to try the smaller version. The 2.0 is a vast improvement over the original. And the original was not a bad gun to begin with. Smith and Wesson should be praised for listening to the customer complaints about the M&P pistols and fixing them in the 2.0.
The grips are aggressive and ergonomic, the trigger is improved and crisp but still with a long take up. Comfortable and crazy accurate. 100% worth the price! You won't be disappointed!

(5 out of 5) Great company!
by from Stone Mountain, GA on

I ordered this exact pistol last Thursday and picked it up from my ffl on Friday. $349 after taxes and overnight shipping, couldn’t be happier after reading some of the reviews. I was scared to make a purchase but I did anyway and boy am I happy! It came in a hard case with all the extras. I will def shop here again!

by from North Port, FL on

This was a steal for the price. I also bought a .357 sig barrel, so 2 calibers in one gun. Perfect after thousands of rounds. Comfortable grip and balance, and very accurate. Trijicon night sights added, now it's a perfect gun to join my EDC rotation. Fabulous handgun!

(5 out of 5) Top quality pistol with excellent price point
by from Albuquerque, NM on

After shooting Glocks for the past 15 years I decided to try a Smith & Wesson M&P40 M2.0 compact to see how it matched up to the Glock 23. Truly impressed with the grip and trigger and reset of trigger.
Biggest advantage is ambidextrous magazine release and slide release. Factory sights are acceptable, though I will probably upgrade to night sights, as all my handguns have them. I like that it accepts full size magazines from my full size M&P40 I purchased earlier from Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore as a police trade-in, brand new in box. Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore has excellent pricing and service with free shipping on firearms.

(5 out of 5) Awesome little gun!
by from San Antonio, TX on

Gun is ready to go right out of the box, already has metal sights and a grippy texture....trigger is pretty decent too! I'm used to doing mods to most of my guns, but this one shot awesome right out of the box. Unbelievable deal at less than $300!!! Liked it so much I purchased 2!!

(5 out of 5) Great pistol that comes with a great price!
by from lindenhurst, IL on

I ordered this pistol last week from this site. It came with a great price tag, $300. It was almost too hard to pass up. So I purchased the pistol in the early morning, and to my surprise, it shipped later that afternoon! My FFL was already in their database, which made things go quick and easy. When I went to pick up my pistol, I was pleased that it came in a hard, lockable, case. Most firearms companies are dialing back on this practice, I'm glad Smith and Wesson is not. This pistol came with 2 13 round magazines. It also came with 4 different sized grips, to customize your hand size. It came with your standard firearm lock and barrel flag, as well as 2 magazine extenders, my guess is to fit the older M&P mags, if you have any laying around.

The pistol itself is, what I would classify as, a medium-sized pistol. The term compact is relative. I knew this going in, so I knew what I was getting in to. You might be able to conceal this pistol, though it would definitely be on the large size for that. I have large hands, so I found the large grip to be a perfect size for me. This is my first Smith and Wesson pistol purchase, so I can't comment on the differences from the older M&P to the 2.0. I will say that I like the trigger a lot. It is not spongy at all. I like the magazine eject, which is strong and will clear the magazine easily. Ive read some people gripe about the aggressive grip, but I like it. Especially after 30 minutes into a range session and your palms start sweating. The fish-scale slide grip is also nice, for the reasons I stated above. Field stripping the pistol is easy. They do have a safety switch you can click to remove the slide, without depressing the trigger, which I guess is a nice feature, though I doubt I will use that much.

As far as firing the pistol, I've found no issues at all, though I've only fired 165 grain ammo through it thus far. I plan to try out a few different grain loads mixed in with some different hollow point ammo, just to see how ammo feeds through it. The only real gripe I have is the sights are all white. I prefer the center be a different color, for faster target acquisition. Other than that this pistol is a real value at a great price. Highly Recommend it.
