The brand new Springfield XD Mod.2™ Sub-Compact includes a variety of fine tuned, new and improved features. Mod.2™ ergonomics are a next-level experience that you have to feel to believe and understand. The entire interface between the shooter and the gun has been updated, while retaining the Point-and-Shoot characteristics that made it famous. Key features have been tweaked and enhanced to further enable effortless shooting. And you’ll find that the overall package is now more concealable as well.
Equipped with the GripZone™, the XD® Mod.2™ Sub-Compact 9mm applies ergonomic science to every surface that touches your hand. The GripZone™ is a set of frame features working in unison to optimize interaction between the human hand and the pistol. Within the GripZone™, there are three distinct textures, each engineered for a specific purpose.
The re-contoured, slimmer frame and slide add up to a far more natural grip feel that has nearly twice the magazine capacity and is only 2 tenths of an inch thicker than single stack conceal carry models. The High-Hand™ grip relief and High-Hand™ beavertail enable the hand to be positioned as high as possible toward the barrel bore thereby greatly reducing the pistol’s felt recoil. The no-snag trigger guard minimizes possible unintended contact with a holster or clothing. All of these GripZone™ advantages are ergonomic features that you will truly feel. Beautiful firearm that took all ammo fed through it with all functioning magazines with no jams. Perfect balance of a light weight and compact design with an amazing trigger, great out of the package sights, and 13/16 round mags. No sight adjustments were needed, pretty on target shots from 20-50+ feet away. Only about 200-300 shots in but so far very happy with this firearm with the additional 5 extra magazines and really nice range bag provided with the product.
First purchase through SOSS. Shipped right to my local gun store with no issues. Great feel in the hand, I have put several hundred rounds through it with no malfunctions. Got the promotional additional mags and holster and love the capacity. The Mod 2 Grip Zone gives a solid feel and the fiber optic front sight allows easier target acquisition. Easy take down for disassembly and cleaning. Bought it for my PDW and its EDC capabilities.
This is a really well made handgun. Perfect EDC choice, with 13+1 magazine. Reliable after 4 thousand rounds. I carry it with confidence.
I'll echo everything Jason from Wassau said, except for the range bag. It's handy but limited. I have a larger bag that suits me better. The weapon is better than I expected. I'd like something smaller but the choices simply don't have the stopping power or round capacity. I reviewed Paul Hellar and Active Self Protections channels to get some data on what works and doesn't work. For my life, this is perfect.
When I set out to find a good conceal carry gun, here is what I was looking for:
1. Good quality
2. Not too big but not too small
3. Not too heavy but not too light
4. Comfortable grip
5. Decent sights
6. Easy field stripping
7. Higher capacity magazine
8. Simple but good safety features
9. Affordable price.
The only gun I could find to meet all of those needs was this gun! After I received it, I was very impressed with the quality of the gun, the magazines, and even the range bag! The range bag is a nice size with heavy duty zippers. It's big enough to hold the gun, 6 magazines, dryfire accessories, and a towel in the main compartment. You can store 5 - 50qty boxes of ammo in the second compartment! It comes with extra red and green fiber optic rods and I ended up swapping the red fiber optic rod out for the green since the green is a bit easier to see in low light situations.
I love this thing and recommend it to anyone! It is a very good quality firearm. The only thing I would say people should try out before they buy it, is to rack the slide. To some people it may seem a little more difficult than other guns but I don't have a problem with it. It fits my hand well and I love the trigger and reset.
