Are you interested in getting your Ohio Concealed Handgun License (CHL), also known as a concealed carry permit or CCW? Passage of Ohio's concealed handgun licensing law in 2004 led to a literal explosion in the number of people who were not only seeking a facility where they could be trained to meet the standards of qualification for a Concealed Carry Permit, but where they could also continue to develop and maintain their newly acquired skills. Vance Outdoors goes above and beyond the state minimum for a CCW Class and offers students the chance to learn from true professionals in both the classroom and the shooting range, all within the same facility.
The Weekend CCW Class consists of 12 hours in the classroom on Saturday, followed by approximately 3 hours in the range on Sunday. The classroom time runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a half hour lunch/dinner break. You will be assigned one of two 3-hour range sessions on Sunday.
The Weekday CCW Class includes 12 hours of classroom time, spread out from Monday to Thursday, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each evening. Our students are off on Friday, and return on Saturday for the 3 hour range session. The time for the range session will be assigned in class.
Students in the CCW Class will experience a mix of lessons and discussions, while getting a chance to be hands-on with the firearms they're learning about. By having a minimum of three instructors in every class, students get the benefit of varying perspectives on issues and questions. Whether or not you're an experienced shooter or if you're just getting started, you're certain to learn something new in the Vance Outdoors CCW Class.
The Vance Outdoors CCW Class is run by instructors with extensive law enforcement backgrounds, and decades of experience in firearms training and carrying a concealed handgun as a private citizen. All of our instructors are certified by the National Rifle Association (NRA) and/or the Ohio Peace Officer's Training Commission (OPOTA).
Put your classroom experience to use on our state-of-the-art shooting range. Students will start out by firing a practice course that is not timed or scored. Progressing to the 7-stage Qualification Course, students will go through accuracy drills and speed drills, including multiple target shooting, along with single handed shooting and close quarters shooting.
