I have had my Shield 40 caliber for about 4years. I love this very concealable pistol. I carry it on me 90% of the time. I would surely recommend this item to carry as a conceal carry option.

(5 out of 5) S&W M&P .40 Shield
by from Oglesby, IL on

Great gun at an amazing price! Bought the gun on Wednesday and picked up at FFL on Saturday. Transaction was simple and went smooth. The size is perfect for concealed carry, shoots very accurately, easy to field strip and clean. The only issue I had was the magazines are difficult to load by hand. I bought the Uplula speed loader and eliminated that problem. SOSS has great prices and service. Will definitely buy from again!

(5 out of 5) M&P .40 Shield
by from Oglesby, IL on

The gun looks and feels great. It's the perfect size for concealed carry. Put 100 rounds through it with no problems what so ever. The only issue is the mags are hard to load by hand, which many online reviews acknowledge and say it eases up with use. Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore has 5 star service! They also have the best prices! Highly recommend the M&P 40 Shield and SOSS!!!

I was surprised with just how much I love this gun! Deadly accurate and don't worry about the recoil. Very manageable and not much more than a 9mm. Day One Buy.

(5 out of 5) My 2nd, another keeper
by from Charleston, SC on

For those who think the .40 S&W round is too snappy to keep on target for follow-up shots, just stop reading now - I'm not going to waste your time trying to convince you. Go ahead and stick with your .38, .380, or 9mm and may God be with you. I keep only two calibers: .40 S&W - 2 full-size and 3 concealed carry frames and .45 ACP. I would never recommend the M&P Shield in .45 ACP - it is too much bullet for too little gun, but I would put my life in the balance with the .40 M&P Shield. I have carried one for many years, as well as a Glock 27. Both are good weapons, but the Shield tucks tighter and better at the 4-o'clock position and/or less bulge in an ankle holster.

As far as the ability to stay on target, I can keep 180 grain Winchester hollow points in a very respectable grouping 2-3 in the 9 or X zone firing in haste without much trouble. Mind you this is 5-8 meter combat range - which is what this pistol is made for. For those who want rapid shots at 25 meters, buy an M&P 2.0 5 full-frame like I have for duty use. My slight-framed daughters and niece can shoot the .40 Shield with no problem given proper training of course. This is a keeper pistol. I will probably buy a 3rd one before the rebate is over.

One of the best handguns I've owned.

(5 out of 5) Outstanding!
by from Canandaigua, NY on

This was my first CCW purchase and I couldn't be happier with the pistol or Sportsman Outdoor Superstore. The best price by far and Gov. Cuomo didn't get a penny of sales tax from the transaction! I've put 200 rnds thru the Shield so far no problems. This gun packs a lot of punch and is a very comfortable shooter. Even with the smaller 6 rnd mag and my pinky hanging off the bottom the pistol feels very controllable.

by from New Creek, WV on

Excellent gun, feels great, and shoots awesome with damn good accuracy from 40 35 yards hits the target right where I am. Feels nice for concealed carry on your side, perfect weight ratio. Also a great price :D Will be buying another one soon for my wife, and prob a 9mm or two for keeping concealed in my vehicles.

(5 out of 5) Nice Gun / Great service
by from Raleigh, NC on

S&W Shield 40 shoots very nice. Put about 150 rounds down range without any jams. Gun shoots low but I may not be aligning sights correctly. I hunt with a 44 Mag so the recoil on the 40 doesn't bother me at all. 40 S&W packs a little better punch than the 9mm. Bigger is always better in my opinion.

I was unsure about purchase with Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore. However, transaction went very flawless and I had new gun in a few days. I saved about $100 versus competitors or purchase directly from gun store. Don't hesitate with your purchase from Sportsman Outdoor Superstore.

I couldn't be happier!

(5 out of 5) My new CCW
by from OKC, OK on

I don't own many firearms, but the two guns I do own are both S&W's. My first was an old 681 revolver that I bought from a friend, and my second was this M&P Shield.

When I was looking for a good CCW, I went to my local range to try out some different pistols of this size. I shot the XDS, LC9 and a few others, but the Shield definitely won me over. It fit better in my hand and it gave me the best handling out of the other options.

Choosing between the 9 and 40 was easy for me, since I was already used to shooting 357's out of my 681. Sportsman's had the best price on the 40 Shield, so it was a no brainer when it came time to buy. After placing my order, I called their customer service just to ask when they thought the gun would arrive, and they told me the gun had already been shipped! Literally two hours after placing my order, it was on its way. Pretty impressed with both my buying experience and the gun itself.

(5 out of 5) my new favorite ccw!!!
by from Memphis, TN on

Ive always carried glocks in the past for alot of reasons one being reliability. But this m&p shield .40 is now my ccw of choice and my trustworthy old g23 gen 4 has a tac light and is a bed side gun now!!! The sheild shoots jusy as easy for me as my glock no problem hitting the target and after only 450 rounds no issues yet! Light weight easy to conceal and plenty of punch!
