Windham Weaponry’s HBC model is their “heavy barreled carbine” and a close cousin to the MPC model except for its barrel. The Heavy Barrel profile features more thickness under the handguard area, and a straight machine turning from the sight base forward to the slight step before the muzzle threading. Some shooters feel the heavy profile provides more rigidity and accuracy, but either way its all 100% Windham Weaponry quality.

This is my second Windham rifle 5.56&.223 and 7.62x39 and I could not be happier. This particular rifle 5.56/.223 I had out to the range once and it performed flawlessly. I ran both 5.56 and .223 through the rifle with no issues. The irons were pretty spot on 100 yards out with zero adjustments. The heavy barrel makes a huge difference in the performance and compensation for recoil. The rifle was fairly easy to break down and clean. Sportsmans customer service is outstanding as always. This is my 5th purchase through them. Shipping during these times is tough, but they seem to be improving on getting their products out the door.
This is my fourth Windham, and I love her dearly. Just kidding, but a really top of the line piece for a not so top of the line price. You could do better, but it wouldn't be worth the cost ratio.
This rifle shipped fast and came in mint condition. I couldn’t believe the price. $200 cheaper than any gun store near me, and $0 for tax and $0 for shipping. Awesome!! Will shop here again.
I purchased this rifle several years ago. It was my 1st AR. I originally paid much more for it. When Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore had the sale with free shipping, I had to get another! Great quality rifle and fast shipping. I will do business again with Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore.
I'm an AK guy and always have been although, I've shot many AR's. I knew one day I'd have to acquire an AR and I have been putting it off. When the guys on the files posted that the WW HBC was on sale, I couldn't pass it up. I received the rifle about a week after ordering, so not too bad this time of year.
The rifle is flawless inside and out and the best part is that it shoots like a dream. The extra 8 ounces on the barrel make the already soft AR recoil even less. The reviews are all true and the Windham story is heart warming.
I'd bought the HBC after seeing some reviews of it - I liked the idea of the heavy barrel, iron sights, lifetime warranty, and the story behind Windham. I took to the range and used a military 25m qualification target to check sights...1 CCW click on the rear and I was hitting dead center I find that extraordinary because I wear full lens magnifier safety glasses when shooting...my vision is not the best anymore. Highly recommend this rifle.
I bought this rifle 2 years ago. It has been tested at temperatures from 95F down to -20F. Runs flawlessly. But that is not the point. The point here is exceptional accuracy I get out of WW Heavy Barrel. I run this rifle from 100 to 600 yards. With Black Hills 5.56mm 77gr OTM and IMI razor core 77gr OTM I get 10-round groups at 100 yards within 1 inch circle. With Black Hills 5.56mm 77gr TMK I regularly get 10-round groups at 200 yards in 1.5 inch circle. At 300 yards with 10-round groups I stay within 3 inch circle using any of those 3. I ran Burris Fulfield E1 3-9x40mm scope on this rifle. As of today I have around 7,000 rounds through it. Groups still as tight as when I bought it. When the time comes I am replacing barrel with the same HB from WW. Exceptional rifle.
This is my second AR purchase after the S&W AR in the last couple of years. After researching and watching online reviews, I wanted an AR which reminded me of the M4 carbine, built to last, and was ready to shoot out of the box. The HBC didn't disappoint - I used a 25m military target to sight it in. And, my first 3 rounds were incredibly close to dead center iron sights - one click of the back sight and I was hitting the black silhouette. Never had a rifle been so dang close out of the box. The recoil is negligible and keeping the rifle on target is quite easy. I don't think the HBC would let you down regardless of the environment.
I researched them for 5 years before I made the purchase. I really like this firearm. It was on paper out of the box at 100 yards. I would recommend this product to any one looking for a quality AR.
I took the rifle to the range today to sight it in. I was very surprised. It was as the manual said; close - 1 click low and right was all it took. I put about 150 rounds through it - a fun gun to shoot. It feels good, and I can hear a difference between the bolt chambering a round, versus the old M&P15 I had. It's a good rifle. I'd put it up against one double the cost.
Great weapon, about 300 rounds down range and no issues. Took about 9 rounds to zero. Very happy with the rifle.
This WW-15 HBC is by far the best AR-15 that I've ever bought. I own Colt, Bush Master, Sig Sauer, PSA, DPMS and S&W M&P and the Windham blows them all away! The quality of craftsmanship is second to none with excellent fit and finish. 30rd magazine is excellent and are D&H with MagPul follower. The gun arrived in six days from purchase date and taken out to the range today for 200rds with no problems...I will be buying more.
This gun is great and shoots 100% reliable. It's a great buy at this price. Honestly I feel is that the heavy barrel makes this rifle feel heavy on the forend. If I did it over again I think I would buy the MPC with the M4 profile barrel. I still give it a 5 because that's my problem not the rifles. The fit and finish are excellent. It's a great shooter.
Ordered the WW-15 HBC, & could not be happier! A high quality rifle, fit & finish, excellent! After a good cleaning, fired 100 rounds of Silver Bear steel cased ammo thru it without any failures. Cleaned again, then ran 100 rounds of brass cased ammo reloads without any failures.
