When I first opened the box, it was massive. I assumed that the recoil would be horrible, but after firing 44 specials and magnums, I realized that the recoil wasn't bad at all.
Expect to have an extremely hard time finding a holster. I have ordered one through Craft Holsters but it will take 6 weeks to have it made, so I'm waiting on the holster, but I love the 444 Ultra lite. It will be used for concealed carry and on bear hunts. I'm very pleased.
This firearm was defective from the factory. I'm disappointed that the store didn't even check the product when they received it and then return it as defective. And even still didn't inspect it before sending it out for sale....defective. Shame on taurus and shame on sportsmanoutdoors for selling this gun. I of course didn't even see the gun until i had signed all the paperwork. And because i work for a living i picked it up as the shop was closing. I took a quick look...loved what i saw and went home.
When i had time to further inspect the gun i noticed a very obvious defect in the barrel crown and finish on the end of the barrel. I sent the gun back to taurus within 5 days and at this point i've waited 9 weeks with firearm received as the status. Sportsmanoutdoors of course told me that it was my problem and to contact taurus.....taking none of the responsibility.
Just my story...still waiting for my firearm...9 weeks and counting.
I took a chance on this revolver. I have a Smith and Wesson model 629 PC with a short 2.625 inch barrel in .44 magnum . This revolver by Taurus is made well , it's accurate and its light weight due to the aluminum frame . I'm very pleased with Taurus Ultra Lite 444 , I really love the price on sale here at Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore , they always have something good on sale . I'm a happy camper.
I'm afraid I like this better than my Smith and Wesson 629 PC in 2.65 inch barrel. This Ultra Lite 444 is light . What surprised me was the ability to draw , find target acquisition and pull trigger faster than the s w 629 pc short barrel and point of impact right on . It took just a little patience to work the double latch lock on the cylinder release but that's another firm lock down due to vibration and recoil . .44 mag doesn't mess around . I'm a happy camper the delivery was pretty quick down here in southern Texas . I'll be buying more . Thanks Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore... I LOVE YOU
