Contrary to the former reviewer, I found my rifle to be in excellent condition. I think he might have mistook residue from test firing at the factory and the application of cosmoline as excessive abuse and wear. The fit and finish and function of mine is par excellent.
As depicted, it came with a beautiful dark oil finished walnut stock. And when I mounted the Sadlak scope mount, it was spot-on: I didn't even have to use any internal scope adjustments. I know this is an anomaly`;` but, nevertheless, it is a testament to the quality and workmanship of both Springfield Armory and Sadlak industries.
There was a delay in shipping due to a SNAFU on my FFLs FFL, but overall I am well pleased with the purchase.
This was my birthday present this year. Most expensive rifle purchased to date. Either this gun is USED or SA gunsmiths / QA process are subpar. The gun is dirty through and through with a completely fouled barrel! It looks like its been around since ‘69. All I can say is I expected MUCH better for $2800. Not sure who is responsible for this but very dissappointed! Buyer beware..
