The Ruger AR-556 Barrett Brown Cerakote semi-automatic, M4-style, direct impingement Modern Sporting Rifle offers consumers an affordable, American-made Modern Sporting Rifle with the rugged reliability they have come to expect from Ruger. Extensively tested during its development, the AR-556 is constructed from top-quality components, including forged 7075-T6 aluminum upper and lower receivers and a cold hammer-forged chrome-moly steel barrel with M4 feed ramp cuts.
Chambered in 5.56 NATO, the AR-556’s carbine-length, flat-top, M4 design is fully configured with a Ruger Rapid Deploy folding rear sight, milled F-height gas block with post front sight, forward assist, dust cover, brass deflector, telescoping six-position stock, improved trigger-reach grip, enlarged trigger guard and one 30-round Magpul PMag. Standardized M4/AR components are utilized throughout, so the AR-556 can be customized easily.
Great gun for the price. Color is slightly off from magpul FDE tho, still looks good with the magpul handguard though. 200-300 rounds through and no malfunctions.
Couldn't be any happier! I'm loving it, really satisfied with it's smooth transaction. Looking forward to future business.
Ordered the gun the day before Christmas, even with the holiday got it the day after Christmas! Great packaging, factory boxes came in mint condition. Will definitely be buying more guns from these people in the future.
Bought this a couple of weeks ago. My friend upgraded the stock buffer to a Spikes Tactical ST-T2 Heavy Buffer & upgraded the factory suppressor. I haven't picked out a scope or sight yet. My first rifle since my .22 as a kid. I'm 69 now.
This AR shoots so sweet, almost no recoil. My friend said it's nicer then his 2 AR's. I paid an extra $90 for the FDE color, model 8503. You can get the all black model 8500 on this site for $479. Shipping from SOSS was super quick. You will not be disappointed...
The brown is not very brown at all. I would call it TAN. I only wanted this gun because the Brown Cerakote. Its so tan and not brown if i saw it in person i would have walked away. Its almost false advertising at this point. SO BEWARE!!!!! THE GUN IS NOT BROWN ITS TAN/ SAND. BIG DIFFERENCE YO...
The grip feels amazing, 250+ rounds so far and no problems. Very nice for my first rifle.
Great looking AR, 500+ rounds no problems.
I have 5 AR-15s. This Ruger was not expensive and shoots right on, at 100 yards. I have 900 rounds through it and it fires and ejects all loads. Hp, Flat nose, round nose all fire and eject. I gave it to my son who really liked the Desert Tan color. I would suggest this rifle to anyone who wants a well built, reliable , accurate , Ar-15. Bob
Title says it all!
This was my first AR, and for $550 I got performance that you'd ordinarily have to pay $1000 for. The heavier cold hammer-forged barrel really helps shoot-ability, you can notice in in the accuracy and recoil control. Reliability has also been phenomenal; I've put ˜800 rounds through the gun without a single malfunction. The Barrett Cerakote is really just icing on the cake- it's a great looking gun, and people notice it at the range.
Pretty much the only downside this gun if it has one would be the trigger. Being mil-spec, it's a pretty heavy one. Reset and break are good, and it did seem to lighten up some after putting rounds through. It's just much heavier than ideal. I ended up replacing it with the Elite 452 MSR trigger, and this was a noticeable improvement. Hopefully Ruger makes the MSR trigger standard on all their ARs going forward.
Bought 3 months ago. For $569 u cant beat it. These are backordered everywhere and no gun shops can even get them by my house or around St Louis! Their 840 retail price. Looks super good right out of the box. Built well and shoots accurately. I added a Magpul stock and handguard with a foregrip. I'll tell u now. This gun isn't FDE. I bought both my handguard and stock in FDE. And had to paint both. FDE is much lighter. Looks pretty good match now. If anyone is wanting to match paint email me ar [email protected] and ill send u the link of the paint i bought from Ebay or Amazon. both carry it.
Excellent product for the price, would definitely recommend to anyone..
I purchased this model at a very good price in comparison to other vendors at the time. Had a bit of trouble sighting in at first, was way off target 4-5. Once properly sighted in at 2 inch square target at 25 yards, all bullets hit within 1 to 1.5 spread with 55 grain FMJ American Eagle ammo. Love this gun.
No hassle transaction. Arrived at FFL dealer ahead of schedule. After sighting in, this gun will drill 1 inch rapid fire groups at 50 yards. Awesome weapon, at a great price.
For the the price I got it when it was on sale I consider that a steal lol. Rifle is firm and sturdy with no vibration during fire. I added a different M-LOK hand guard with angle grip and scope. Did excellent at 100 yards. Wish I could post a picture. Friends of mine love it.. Also looks beautiful when I have it standing behind the lamp in the bedroom. Definitely recommend it!
