Have a few 45 cal handguns, I like this one the best ! Feels great in the hand and is accurate.
Out of the box PERFECT. What a sweet shooting little pistol. 230 fmj ammo very manageable, hell hardly anymore recoil than my 9mm Shield. LOVE IT Would recommend this pistol to anyone. Great Price also.
My standards for the perfect concealed carry handgun have always been set pretty high - the 1911A1 3.5 bbl .45ACP. Finally, S&W introduced the M&P Shield 45 with thumb safety. The only operational difference between the two is the side release method after reloading; minor difference IMHO. The really BIG difference is carry weight loaded. A whopping 12 ounces - three quarters of a pound. It's been my IWB carry for 9 months now and I couldn't be happier.
Smith & Wesson 45 cal. Shield review - DISAPPOINTED After receiving my Shield I noticed the mags were not assembled correctly. I know what the problem was a & how to correct but wanted to see what S&W would say. After talking to two reps with an arrogant attitude I was told to fix it myself or send it back. No apology, nothing except they were well aware of the quality control problems that S&W have had for quite some time. So I “fixed” the mags, then cleaned and lubricated before taking to the range. I ran 14 mags through with only two having no problems. I had three failure to eject with the spent casings caught between the slide and barrel. To make matters worse twelve mags kept having failure to feed problems. I dont mean just a few but with over a dozen this makes the Shield unusable for me. Note, this is not my first Shield, having sight problems with my 9mm and now this I will no longer buy S&W products. After purchasing many firearms over the years, my Rugers & XDs have never had an issue like this and the quality was far superior to S&W. Additionally I did not appreciate the attitude from the East coast employees.
Great gun but the magazine was not assembled correctly. Called S&W, explained the problem and was told to either ship it back or fix it myself. Really! Very poor quality control. This is not my fist Shield with a problem. My 9mm sights are way off. I like the products from S&W but they really need to work on quality control. The people putting these together need to realize its job security to make a quality product. Right now they don't give a crap and its obvious.
Ordered this firearm Memorial Day weekend and then called my FFL agent. He was going to be out of town for 9 days, so a delay in shipping was needed. I called SOSS Tuesday morning and we arranged to have the firearm shipping delayed until my ffl agent was back. Order was shipped as arranged with no problems whatsoever. Firearm is well designed and well balanced . The new texture on the grip is awesome . I have large hands and I can get 3 fingers on grip with the 6 round mag. If you like the 45 you will love this firearm !
I've ran a few hundred rounds of the cheapest ammo I can find. Not 1 hiccup. Reliability is very important to me. I also ran my defense ammo through it; it ate that up as well. This is an amazing pistol, for an amazing price. S&W did great with this.
This is my first pistol and decided on the Shield 45 ACP due to its CCW design and caliber. Added Ameriglo SW-145 Classic sights. First time at the range I fired 50 rounds of 230g Winchester Winclean with no issues. 3 groups at 25 yards seated at the bench. I will continue with more rounds and techniques to gain experience, but for a first run I'm very happy with it.
This was my first purchase from this seller and I was very satisfied! The well-known, online gun store I usually do business with raised the price of their .45 Shield by $50 a few days after S&W began their $75 rebate offer! I refused to buy from them and gave Sportsman's Outdoor a try and am very glad I did. Their price was excellent and the shipping took about 10 days. The .45 Shield is a great gun! Just a bit bigger than my 9mm. Matter of fact, I was able to use several of my 9mm holsters. Will definitely do business with Sportsman's Outdoor in the future!
Upon arrival of my Shield 45 M&P, I wasted no time. Went straight to the range, shot about 200 rounds through it and oh my oh my oh... MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS this is one bad bad little Joker mocha. This is one great product by Smith & Wesson. I did not come across any issues while I was shooting this gun. I am SUPER SUPER satisfied and of course is my new concealed carry. I highly highly recommend the M&P 45 Shield.
One more thing; Sportsman's outdoor Superstore, you guys rock! Thank you for adding the 45 Shield to your line of products just awesome.
This is my first 45ACP single stack and I love it. Took a bit to find the right way to grip the gun. The grip is very thin but once I got used to it it was fine. Went through 4 boxes of 230 grain ball and 50 rounds of HST without a hiccup. My new conceal carry.
I received this firearm just a few weeks before Christmas this year. Have no problem with my dealings Sportsmans. Considering how busy they were just before the Holidays, it took about a week and a half to arrive. Now for the pistol. I have carried a Shield 9 for several years and loved the gun. The 9's operation was very trustworthy, something you could trust to defend yourself if ever necessary. The Shield 45 is a different story altogether. Maybe it's just mine, but the failure to feed is so bad, I couldn't rely on the firearm to defend myself. The newly textured grip is so rough, it can't be carried next to exposed skin and is hell on shirts. Recoil and muzzle flip with standard .45 ACP loads, approx. 850 Ft/Sec. is a little difficult to stay on target with a 230 grain bullet. I'm sure with more range time and 185/200 grain bullets it might be more manageable. Last but not least, at 35 feet this pistol shoot 3-4 inches to the left, which is B.S. being that far off from the manufacture. I thought this might have been me, so I got out the ransom rest and found it wasn't me, but the sight. Now, if any of you have tried to move the rear sight on a shield, it's like pulling teeth. I would say without a sight press it can't be done without damaging sight. After contacting S&W, you guessed it, send it in and we'll take a look at it. 4-6 weeks later I might have it back. FYI, the failure to feed is due to the extractor hanging on case rims ejector grove. Three different ammo manufactures were tried, and after 150 of rounds fired, I was never able to get a full magazine to run through it.
This was my first order from this seller and I already placed another order today... Very happy with this transaction... Smooth easy sale and pistol was at my local dealer in a couple days...
