Introducing the T/C® COMPASS® - A great rifle that can match any budget. Building on a heritage of accurate, affordable firearms - from a trusted American brand. Designed to deliver today’s sport shooters and hunters with a feature-rich bolt-action rifle at an affordable price point, the T/C Compass elegantly blends American-made craftsmanship and value into a professional-grade rifle.
Shooting the Compass without a Muzzle break installed was as I thought it would be.....Harsh!!! But accurate as described. 1.5 inch group with 150 gran Hornady bullets. After the Muzzle break was installed, the grouping stayed about the same, BUT my shoulder sure liked it better. Could have shot a box of shells without any shock. It isn't the best gun around, but for the money it is hard to beat.
This rifle doesn’t have the greatest stock, the best trigger, or a very smooth bolt, but it will shoot factory Hornady 200gr ELD-X Precision Hunter at about 7/8” @ 100yds. Berger 215/H1000 handloads are a little better but must be single fed.
All in all it is a cheap, viable hunting rifle. If I had one complaint it would be the very minimal amount of shoulder on the threaded barrel. The barrel OD only steps up a few thou from the 5/8 thread, which isn’t enough for many of the brakes I’ve looked at and could cause suppressor misalignment issues.
I picked this up so I can have a heavy-hitting caliber but I can still suppress. It's a great rifle for the money but not without its flaws. The mag is a little short for loading High BC Bullets and still being able to get close to the lands. Also, the barrel copper fouls terribly. I ran some Tubb final finish bullets through it and that cured the copper fouling as well as the occasional uncalled flyer. Mine really likes Sierra 220 smk and the now discontinued Hornady 225 hpbt pushed by h1000 or retumbo. My son just picked one up and we are still waiting to see if it shoots as well as mine, as Italy has 40 rounds through it.
Bought this rifle for long distance shooting. It's a great rifle that handles well and is fun to shoot. It’s lighter than I expected and is a very accessorizable base bolt action rifle. The one thing I don’t like, is that the bolt action, as you pull back on the action to eject the casing, has to be a perfect alignment to push it back in. Other than that, I didn’t have any other issues with it or problems.
I received my new 300 mag in great shape and quickly. After mounting the scope and spending some time at the range, my take is without question it is well worth the price. I have paid much more for rifles and not received the quality and accuracy. My results are groups of 1.25 at 200 yards.
