Sig is proud to provide Sig's men and women in the armed forces with a light-weight, enclosed red-dot sight that is as tough as it is micro. The ROMEO5 features Sig's MOTAC™ (Motion Activated Illumination) which increases battery life by shutting down the system when not in use and instantly activates the system when it senses the slightest vibration or movement. Your sight will be up when you go into action. The ROMEO5 will mount on any platform and the solid aluminum design will give peak performance and years of service. Military units trust the ROMEO5 when it counts, so why wouldn’t you?
The Sig Sauer Romeo 5 was recommended by a good friend that is both an NRA Instructor / avid gun & rifle enthusiast of many decades, after I commented that I was looking for a quality red dot for my Ruger 556 that would not break the bank. Mind you, I was in no real rush as I already had my Ruger 556 for 10 months and thought the iron sights worked just fine. Yet, after seeing a few YouTube reviews on the Romeo 5 along with reading quite a few that were all very favorable I came across the Black Friday sale of it being just $109 including shipping and I couldn't pass it up and pulled the trigger.
Apart from the affordable price point, the minute you look and unbox the Sig Sauer Romeo 5, you can tell it's a good quality product worthy of the Sig Sauer brand name. What I really appreciate is it is a relatively light weight optic coming in at 5 oz. The fact that with the MOTAC feature the red dot turns on and off automatically is a major plus. I've already taken it to the range two times, once to zero it in properly with co witness to the iron sights and the second to get used to it much more without flipping up the rear iron sight. My groups at 25 yards were tight enough and comparable to when I use iron sights. Please note that I did consider the Holosun HS403G as they are both very similar products and it was like splitting hairs. To me they are probably both built in the same factory in China, that's how similar they look and review.
In the end, the Romeo 5 looked slightly better overall and had a longer warranty of 5 years vs 3 as Sig Sauers brand name is attached to this optic division effort of theirs. Not to mention again that the price point offered by Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore was just spot on in offering a quality red dot to the owner of an affordable Ruger 556.
I bought this Optic on a black Friday special. I just couldn't pass it up when I saw Sig Sauer . I put this on a Ruger AR 556 .The red dot is nice and clear and it comes with a co- witness HI mount, which was what i was looking for. I watched a few reviews on Youtube and they were very good. The excellent battery life, due to the motion activation feature was the key selling point for me.
This is a great red dot, I love the 2 moa dot and the auto shut off. I think I'll buy another, the dot is clear and crisp. Comes with both low and high mounts, which is also great you can mount it on where you need to without getting another mount.
Mounted on Saint Edge to keep weight down. Excellent price and availability. Sighted in quickly. Flip up sights ghost with it also. Don't let low price get away. This deal can't last!
It's a Sig!
Excellent price at $119.00, but never expected to get it the day after I placed the order. What a pleasant surprise. Glad I pulled the trigger on that purchase.
The price was too good to not take notice. Being a Sig product, I felt confident it would be fine. I mounted it to a Springfield Saint. I did have to do a bit of sighting it in, now it is perfect and accurate and works exactly as advertised.
I have been considering one of these red dot sights for a few years. When I saw this one on sale, I ordered it for my Ruger AR556. It is more accurate than I could have hoped for. Once I got it sighted in, it is great fun for shooting 100 yards and closer. I just shot my first reloads today and totally obliterated the bullseye. My wife and son have both shot this and also love it. If you are on the fence, just go ahead and do it, you won't be disappointed.
I put one of these Sig sights on my MicroRoni which I have operating with my G17. Have it zerod in at 25 yds. and off bench rest, puts ragged holes through bulls eye target. At 50 yds. 3 groups off bench. Very impressed with Sig Romeo AND probably will buy another.
The Sig Romeo5 is perfect for what I had in mind except for one very small detail that may not bother most. The MOTAC feature is too sensitive, the slightest touch activates the sight. You could only use it on a truck gun if you plan on having backup sights or spare batteries. The motion of a vehicle would keep the sight on at all times unless you manually turn it off, which disables the MOTAC. My gun safe is over a sub floor, the vibrations from opening the safe are enough to turn the sight on. But, if you are in the habit of manually turning off the sight after use it is a non issue.
Because of Sig Sauer's reputation, I felt that this sight may be good quality. Upon unboxing, all of my expectations were met and surpassed. The quality of the sight is great, and the 2 MOA red dot is crisp. For the money, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the glass. In addition to this, I know that the sight may not be as precise as an Aimpoint or have a proven track record as some Trijicon sights, but it also costs 20% of their costs. While they are good, they are not five times as good. In fact, my friend that has an Aimpoint seemed to like the way this sight looks over his. I would highly recommend that anyone who wants to buy a great sight at a incredible price point.
it's been great; really crisp. I got another one on the way. Can't think of a reason to spend like $600 on a dot so I'll take two of these!! Check out its torture test on youtube. They froze it in a block of ice, shot at the side of it with birdshot etc. I'll never treat it THAT bad. The warranty is great too. Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore RULES too. Thanks.
We can compare apples to apples here as far as the Sig Sauer Romeo5 and Aimpoint Pro series.
1. Cost 128.00 for the Romeo5 and over 600.00 for the Aimpoint.
2. Clarity of the reticule on the Romeo5 is actually a tad better than the Aimpoint.
3. Submersion factors, I would never feel comfortable putting an Aimpoint in Saltwater much less fresh water.
4. Both get the job done but the Romeo5 even has more features which are critical like MOTAC. Aimpoint does not offer that and the Romeo5 weights much less.
5. Aimpoint is battle proven no doubt but I would not think twice about bringing my Sig Romeo5 into any combat situation.
I got my Romeo5 a few days ago. The quality was apparent out of the box. If you can get it under $140 don’t hesitate. I’ll keep using Sportsman’s Outdoor Superstore in the future; always a smooth experience.
Awesome price for a great red dot! Shipped quick, great price. Easy mounting and easy to set up, I would recommend this to anyone who wants a good AR set up at a reasonable price.
This is an awesome red dot. Well built and packed with features. I love the sleep mode with the motion activation. I’ll be buying another one for sure!
Fast shipping, wonderful product, brand new in the box. Love it !! Thank you.
I think the Romeo5 is one of the best, most underrated red dots out there. I caught it on sale for the lowest price I've ever seen! Great price for a great product. It showed up really quickly too. Ordered it on a Wednesday and it showed up the next Monday.
Works and holds zero perfectly fine! After thousands of shots still perfect! The high heat in Florida and rain does not affect the functioning! I will buy again!
Impressed from the get go. Put on Ruger AR-556 and it lined up with sights right out of box. Clear dot, not like other guy said. Like the auto on feature. Kinda hard to believe 40,000 hours but guess we'll see. Prefer it was not made in China, but if I could justify paying for Aimpoint, I'd buy one. Cheap tractor rifle and cheap red dot. Happy as can be.
Sure there are better red dots out there, but for the money you cant beat this optic. The cost 3-5 times as much as this little gem. If an Aimpoint isn't in your budget, this is the next best thing. I'm glad I added it to my collection. You will be too.
I have two of these now. Both of them have a star effect around the dot, but it's not as bad as some of the others that I have had. I guess until you get up into the true holographic sights, you are going to get that to some degree. That being said, they are easy to use, easy to zero, and seem to hold their zero once sighted in. I say that they seem to because I have them mounted to a .5.56 pistol and rifle. Neither of which has a bad recoil, nor have they been beaten around in the woods hunting or during competitions. So I cannot attest to their durability under harsher circumstances.
But for the price to toss it on my beat it up AR, I couldn't say no. Love Sig firearms. They are the best optics. I feel they are just trying to get into a market segment they don't belong. My biggest complaint is it's made in China. Let's see how it holds up with the way I play.
I came across this little gem for $139.99 shipped so I grabbed it right away. I mounted it on my AR and it was dead on zero at 50 yards right out of the box. The MOTAC feature, great optics, Sig quality and small size make it a great low price option.
