(4 out of 5) Still a great deal...
by from Boise, ID on

I bought this for myself and I do love it. It’s a fun range gun. Eats anything and loves it. There are a ton of aftermarket goodies you can get. The gun works very well. That being said I ordered this at the wrong time but the price was so good I couldn’t wait. Delivery took forever, it’s okay I was warned it would at the time I ordered.

When it arrived at my ffl I was so excited that even though the finish had some wear already brand new out of the box and the screw head on the safety was stripped. I didn’t want to bother sending it back. I extracted the bad screw, no big deal since I wanted an aftermarket safety switch anyways, and I have since had the gun parkerized to fix my issues with the finish. All in all an incredible deal on a very fun firearm.

(5 out of 5) Shocking!!
by from Senecaville, OH on

First thing I got was an opsmol which allows the gun to reliably cycle the 1.75 shells. Best 15 bucks I ever spent.

I ordered this and the process including shipping took two weeks. I will not order from this company again.

by from El Paso, TX on

This gun is just incredibly fun to shoot! Definitely has a kick! Wife loves it too. Easy to use, put about 50 shells through it no problem! Definitely worth the buy and would recommend. I let everyone know where to buy, Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore.

(5 out of 5) Awesome!
by from Cape Girardeau, MO on

I love this thing! I put the adapter in it so I can shoot mini shells. It’s lots of fun and easy to store for truck protection.

(2 out of 5) This is one of those, just because it looks like its a good, idea, its not really a good idea!

Even shooting from the hip is miserable with this! The action felt cheap, gritty, and flimsy. Honestly: The old Ithaca 12 & 14 LEO SBSs run rings around this any other weapon. Unless you have a big knurled cedar root burl to dig into your hip, that plastic pseudo pistolish grip thing is just awful. Give me a stock, so I can shoulder it, PLEASE, and I will cheerfully send the forms and tax money to the ATFE, for an SBS!! This is right up there with Hold my beer Jim Bob, while I shoots my Taurus Judge, at that thar stray cat! stupid. Thankfully, these are still stoopid popular enough, that reselling it was not at all a problem! I bought an old Ithaca 37 pre 1975 with the double sears, so I can hold the trigger back, and pump out the lead, as fast as I can pump. Again, very cool, but probably not 100% practical, in all situations. I am sure there is a very good reason double sears were removed from such guns. At least the Model 37 has a stock! These 26 inch any other weapon 12 gauges are, just not very practical for my needs, and the quality was somewhat disappointing, to say the least. Sorry, I grew up with Browning Superposes, and Remington 1100s. I can start to see why Dad really hated Mossbergs. I still like their 500 Marine versions, though! The eels heals are still the Winchester Model 21s, or a matched set of Purdys.

(5 out of 5) Shockwave is a winner.

As always, SOSS shipped this item quickly and it arrived in perfect condition. To begin my day at the range, I loaded up 5 2.75" shells of #7 bird shot from Federal. I thought I had a firm grip on the shotgun, got a good sight picture and squeezed the trigger until I heard a boom. My weak hand was immediately jerked off of the fore-end and the recoil made my right hand slide forward on the raptor grip until it stopped on the sharp safety lever. That may have been the most painful experience I have ever had shooting some el cheapo Federal bird shot. Determined not to look bad in front of my wife, I racked the shotgun and loaded the next shell into the chamber. This time I had a much firmer grip on the shotgun and was prepared for the concussion that was about to erupt from the 14 barreled blaster in my hands. The next 24 shots were not bad at all, although I wouldn't want to shoot skeet all day with the Shockwave.

After I had a good idea of what bird shot felt like, I loaded up 5 rounds of Winchester Super X 2.75" 00 buckshot. I prepared myself for a massive explosion and more pain while I gingerly squeezed the trigger. This is where the Shockwave surprised me. The recoil from the buckshot was not much worse than the bird shot. Again, I wouldn't want to shoot it all day but a couple shells into some dirt bags who just kicked in my door would be more than manageable. I fired a total of 30 rounds through my Mossberg 590 Shockwave today, and am very happy with it. I had 1 malfunction where the extractors ripped the rim of the shell off without pulling it out of the chamber. I contributed this to the 5 year old shell and not the shotgun as the rest of the ammo worked perfectly.

If you are in the market for your first shotgun, this is definitely not a good gun for you. The recoil is massive compared to my Mossberg 500 and an inexperienced shooter could easily lose a hand or several fingers by not properly handling the firearm. If you have some time behind a shotgun and recognize the drawbacks of a short barreled firearm that cannot be shouldered, then take a look at the Shockwave. I think you will be happy with your purchase.

by from Clinton Township, MI on

So, I knew when I first saw it I was going to get it. First thing I did before I even shot it was put some talon grips on it because I knew this was something that was going to require a good grip boy am I glad I did that. it kicks. It’s what 12 gauges do. I knew that going in. It does take a little getting used to, but after you get it down this thing is a beast and whatever you do, don’t let anyone tell you it has to be fired from the hip. You can look over the top of the bead sight without having it so close that you knock your front teeth out. Just hold on to it with a nice firm grip and you will be fine. We shot over a hundred federal slugs through it with no pain afterward whatsoever it was my friend’s first time shooting any 12 gauge before. He was absolutely amazed. He told me we didn’t bring enough ammo that day, so take from that what you will there’s a little curve to learning it, but I would say after that it would be one hell of a home defense gun.
