The 124 HST grain has a greater velocity than the 147 grain. Although having become very popular due to reduced muzzle flip and recoil, it does not have sufficient velocity in 4 or shorter barrel guns to get good expansion or penetration. I like shooting the 147 grain HST ammo, but I prefer KNOWING the 124 grain HST will do the job it was intended for, markedly better than the 147 grain HST. It burns fairly clean. It chronographs slower than advertised on the box, but it's accurate and most of all it is very reliable, in ALL of my 9x19 Luger handguns, and carbines. There is also less tendency for the cap to separate from the slug compared to my old carry 124 grain ammo. All in all a great performer at a good price point!
