With the launch of the classically-designed Patriot hunting rifle in 2015, Mossberg set the standard for the modern bolt-action rifle. Now Mossberg broadens the series offering with the Patriot Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor. These purpose-built rifles are housed in a durable Flat Dark Earth (FDE) synthetic stock, suppressor ready and packed with performance-enhancing, premium features.
The Patriot Predator has Mossberg’s proven twin-lug, push-feed machined-steel action at its core, fed from a lightweight polymer, flush 4-round box magazine. The standard contour, free-floating 22-inch barrels feature straight-edge fluting and are threaded (5/8”- 24 threads per inch) for the addition of a suppressor. A protective cap is included. The barrels are constructed of carbon steel and feature a non-reflective, matte blue finish. For consistent shot-after-shot placement, every Patriot rifle features Mossberg’s patented LBA™ (Lightning Bolt Action™) user-adjustable trigger with a 2 to 7 pound range of adjustment. A top-mounted Picatinny rail provides for ease of mounting and repositioning optics. And completing this feature-loaded bolt-action package are oversized bolt handles; spiral-fluted bolts; and sling swivel studs.
The classically-styled stock on the Patriot Predator rifle is well-designed for comfort and reduced felt recoil with its straight comb, rounded edges and raised cheekpiece. Giving the stock a modern feel is textured stippling on the grip and three surface areas of the forend; and for greater versatility through multiple seasons and varied terrain, the stock is finished in Flat Dark Earth. A polymer block insert with integral magazine well provides a simple, but effective bedding platform. Rounding out the stock design is a traditional black rubber recoil pad.
For the first time, Mossberg is offering 6.5mm Creedmoor in the Patriot family of bolt-action rifles. This flat-shooting caliber is popular with varmint and predator hunters for its long-range ballistic performance, lighter recoil and reduced shooter fatigue; and this Patriot Predator has a 1:8 twist rate.
I Love mine. Fires nice, nice weight, easy for a smaller woman to handle. This is a nice quality rifle.
I got this and left it in the box while gathering accessories for it. So I took it out and cleaned it, barrel-sighted the Vortex Hog Hunter 3-12x56 scope. Took 3 rounds to bull at 50 yards. Fantastic...took it home, cleaned it with protectant, and put it back in my safe. I was taking it to the range to see which ammo it liked best. A problem popped up and I couldn’t go, so I left it in the range bag in the garage for two days. Was going the next day, but when I opened it up, the bolt and barrel had slight rust on them. Not happy with this, but it is an easy fix. The point being, it shouldn’t have rusted in the first place. Just keep things like this in mind when you buy a budget gun.
