I’m extremely happy with this purchase. I wasn’t expecting amazing quality since it was a police trade in and the price, and then I saw the firearm. I was blown away I doubt the officer who carried this even shot it. Everything is in amazing condition and well maintained. I would recommend anyone looking to get a sig P229 to get one here can’t beat the price or the quality. Not to mention my gun arrived extremely quick. That’s why I only buy guns from Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore anymore.
I have bought used police guns from here before, all I expected was a serviceable pistol. The finish was excellent, but the barrel was shot out. The Sig night sights don't work but that was to be expected. Function was okay, except a few rounds key-holed the target. I ordered a new barrel, one in 40 and one in 357 Sig. That and new sights and it will look like a new gun.
Previously I received a P226R that was rated fair`;` it was nearly pristine in appearance and function. Maybe that experience clouds this purchase. This P229 arrived with more than fifteen shiny dings of various sizes and bright yellow painted grips. Someone recently, judging by the shiny marks, tried to back out the grip screws, maybe to put on different grips, but instead nearly stripped out the slotted head on one of the top grip screws. I havent been able to remove it yet. Mechanically it looks great and runs as it should. Inside the grip it looks like new. Very clean and well cared for on the inside, which is what counts. I am glad I got it during a reduced price sale, however, and not at the current listed price of $479.99.
The gun arrived fast and free shipping which is great. Came in a Fed Ex box with nothing else but 1 mag. No bag or case. The gun has a moderate amount of wear on it, outside and inside. This was no holster queen. The deputy who carried it shot it frequently. The gun is a really sweet shooter though, accurate, smooth and broken in nicely. The night sights are dead.
Overall, for the price I am OK with the purchase. Seeing in other reviews that other customers received 2 magazines and guns in better shape is disappointing. This is especially so because I am a repeat customer. I have purchased other LE trade-ins in much better shape.
Delivered free in three days. Very little wear at tip of barrel, right side of grip and at mag well. Came with Hogue grip and an extra mag. Description said one, but included two. Very pleased.
The pistol I received has some random police logo badge on top of the slide. There was/is no mention of this in the description like other offerings here and not what I wanted. Had I wanted a police logo on my pistol I would have ordered one of those instead. The product info needs to be updated if this is what you are going to send buyers. The pistol i received is in decent shape and will become a parts gun.
