When a rifle is meant for making fast, accurate shots from a variety of shooting positions—including offhand—it needs to be a natural extension of the shooter’s body. The Savage 110 Scout’s AccuFit™ system does this, letting shooters easily customize the length-of-pull and comb height for a personalized fit, while the user-adjustable AccuTrigger™ offers a crisp, clean pull. Together with the AccuStock™, which secures the action three-dimensionally along its entire length, the 110 Scout provides the fit and function of a custom rifle—right out of the box. It’s also flush with features, including a carbon steel barrel, muzzle brake and AICS-style detachable box magazine that holds 5 rounds. Its rugged synthetic stock, forwardmounted rail and adjustable iron sights are perfectly suited to the versatile platform.
Every new Model 110 delivers the customized fit required for consistent accuracy— and it starts with AccuFit™. Five comb riser sizes let you lock in the perfect cheek-to-stock weld for fast and consistent target acquisition and enhanced accuracy while four composite inserts establish your unique length-of-pull.
I always thought Savage was a lower end, cheap gun...but after seeing a lot of guys I know who build custom rifles...using Savage actions and parts...I started to look more closely at them. I wanted a replacement for my Remmy 1100 for Ohio deer...and after shooting my dads 450 Ruger American, I knew that this caliber was my new gun.
After some research I went with the 110 Scout in 450 BM, and topped it with a Leupold VX-R Scout in 1.5-5x33...and man, all I can say is this is going to be a deer slaying monster! The accuracy and consistency once sighted in blew me away...especially for what this rifle is! I was stacking every bullet touching the others hole in the center of the bull at 100...no flyers at all...not one out of about 40 rounds I shot.
I am SUPER impressed with this rifle, and am super glad I went with it. I got my LOP and cheek Weld height perfect and it is almost instant target accusation when you throw it up...paired with a good pair of binos and a good set of shooting sticks...this should be literally unbeatable for white tail, for my application. It would also make a perfect hog rifle...or even moose or the rogue sasquatch should he decide to get hanky....anything 200 yards and under is in deep $ht! Perfect Ohio White tail rifle.
I bought mine last November for the Ohio deer season. The rear peep sight with front sight post makes for an awesome non-scoped deer gun. I can't say what the MOA accuracy is on it, but I was able to hit 5/5 clay pigeons at 100yds with just the iron sights. Once sighted in not an impressive metric, I know, but more than adequate for the land I hunt where shots beyond 50yds are unlikely.
The Accufit stock is pretty good as well. The adjustable comb height makes getting on target very quick. I wish the length of pull was adjustable to be a little longer to better fit me. Overall, I'm very happy with it. Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore shipped and delivered to my FFL in about 3 days.
