The popular Ruger Precision Rifle is now chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum. This new magnum caliber model pairs exceptional long-range accuracy potential with tremendous down-range energy, broadening the appeal of an already very popular rifle.
This rifle features a heavy-contour barrel (0.875" at the muzzle) as well as a Ruger Precision Rifle Magnum Muzzle Brake with tunable compensator to effectively reduce recoil and muzzle jump. They also feature a hard-coat anodized, 18" free-float handguard configured with Magpul M-LOK accessory attachment slots on all four sides for improved scope clearance and easy mounting of M-LOK-compatible rails and accessories. Integral QD sling attachment points eliminate the need for additional adaptors and a flat bottom 1.50" dovetail is compatible with RRS S.O.A.R. and similar QD systems. Like all Ruger Precision Rifles, this new model features a highly accurate, free-floated barrel that is cold hammer-forged from 4140 chrome-moly steel with 5R rifling for minimum bullet upset. Minimum bore and groove dimensions (air-gauged for process control) and a centralized chamber deliver outstanding accuracy, longevity and ease of cleaning.
You can't beat the quality for the price! One of the smoothest large bore rifles I've had the pleasure of owning/shooting. All you need to add is an optic and a bipod and you are ready to go. Incredibly happy with my purchase and look forward to many years of precision shooting with this rifle.
Awesome rifle! Bought it for home protection and it's perfect. No one will get within a mile of my house! If the Chinese ever invade would make a good anti aircraft or anti vehicle weapon as well!
I can honestly say the other review on here is my conclusion as well. I loaded some 285 eld-m over some retumbo and got the same results as mentioned. Mine were all 5 shot groups at 100 yards, out of 10 groups my average was .67.... pretty amazing for a factory rifle under 5k dollars. The gun has functioned flawlessly for me so far and the muzzle brake makes it a riot to shoot! Great gun for having fun.
Averages sub 3/4 MOA out of the box with my first reload of Hornady 285 ELDM bullets over Retumbo. Several groups have been sub 1/2” at 100 yards. With more load development and different powders like RL33 on order I’m confident it will be 1/2MOA or better. The barrel collects a lot of copper and is a bear that clean but this should improve over time. This trigger could only be adjusted down to 2.7lbs but breaks clean. The muzzle break is huge but really effective. It reduces the recoil to a 30-06 sporter. It is a BIG rifle for sure. Best deal going for a long range accurate 338LM.
