Building upon its legacy of manufacturing quality firearms at an affordable price, Stoeger introduces the all-new STR-9 striker-fired, semi-automatic pistol. Chambered in 9mm with a 15+1 capacity, the STR-9 blends form and function to create an all-around solution for everyday carry, home protection or fun at the range.
The STR-9 features a corrosion-resistant black nitride finish, available interchangeable backstrap grips for a custom fit and 4.17-inch barrel for easy concealment and quick deployment. With an overall length of 7.44 inches and weighing 1.5 pounds, the STR-9 is designed for personal protection without breaking the bank.
Rugged and reliable, the STR-9’s grip angle is engineered to match the drift-adjustable, three-dot sights for true target alignment and combines with a low-bore axis for reduced muzzle rise to quickly reacquire targets for follow-up shots. Aggressive front and back slide serrations provide a firm grasp with or without gloves. A smooth-pulling, crisp trigger houses an internal safety for extra security.
For an added benefit, an accessory rail accepts a wide variety of pistol and laser lights for low-light conditions. The reversible magazine release allows for right- and left-handed shooting. Durable and reliable, the STR-9 delivers the perfect personal defense pistol at an economic price.
I agree with Lee. I too have wanted to purchase a SRR-9 but one magazine is a real problem for me. Why not offer a bundle deal that comes with 3 mags, holster, hard case and cleaning brush like some of the other gun makers
I have looked into purchasing this firearm several times, but find it hard to believe that in this day and age it comes with ONLY ONE 15 round magazine. Extra magazines are hard to obtain, and you shouldn't have to. C'mon Stoeger... you are losing sales because of this.
Owned my Stoeger STR 9 for about two years, and I'm still impressed. Have run about 700 rounds thru it with not one malfunction and it eats everything: FMJ, JHP, brass case, steel case, dirty or clean. Yea, mags are scarce and a little difficult to fill. My pistol came with a very simple loading assistant which makes filling a mag a 90 second chore. Also bought the compact model 13+1 and the 15 round mags function in it also
I've owned this handgun for several months and I'm still in awe on its performance, comfort and accuracy. I purchased the optic ready version along with 3 magazines and 3 different sized back straps medium is my choice. Never a FTF or FTE and no issues with the magazine release. I detailed cleaned the STR-9 before the first initial firing. I've been using the 124 & 147 grains. I carry the STR-9 over my former EDC the Taurus G2/9mm which I recently sold. On the optics red dot sight, I choose the Vortex Venom VMD-3103.
I had bought this TOOL this last winter on a chance. I was wanting a full size 9mm when I found this. For the price I can honestly say I am very happy with my purchase. Before going to shoot this on my range I did strip and clean as well as lubed. It was a little stiff before but smooth as butter as after. I have put 200 rounds thru it with no issues and have been carrying this a EDC since. Great gun I LOVE IT.
I bought this gun a few months ago and at first was disappointed. The mags are very good quality but are next to impossible to load by hand, much less to capacity. First few shots were FTF, stovepipes, and jams, first thoughts POS.... But then my son loaned me his Maglula mag loader, mags load with extreme ease first try. The next 200 rounds the gun performed perfectly.
That's the solution for this gun, the mags have to be loaded with a Maglula loader and the gun is flawless. I have since used this gun in competition shoots with excellent results. The trigger is much better than my Ruger P89, and my Glock G22. It also makes a good choice for an everyday carry gun.
I would highly recommend this gun especially for the price. Give it a good cleaning and light oiling out of the box before first time shooting, use a Maglula mag loader and quality ammo, enjoy.
I wasn't expecting much when I bought this gun several months ago because it's so inexpensive. But let me tell you. The first range trip I put this thing to the test. Over 500 rounds of 115gr Remington/Winchester/Aguila and not 1 failure of any kind! A few weeks later a buddy of mine picked one up to try out and he is very impressed as well.
Things I like. 1. Very ergonomic the grip is very tacky and at the exact right position for my hand. 2. The aggressive forward slide serrations are not only useful but very attractive. Things I don't like 1. Availability of different sight sets haven't made it to the US yet.
All in all I would not only recommend someone get this handgun, but maybe get two as the price difference between this and the famous Glock 17 is substantial but the trigger is already better and Glock. Also Glock upgrade springs work in this handgun if you so desire.
I have been shooting for for over 20 years and can say hands down this is the worst gun I have ever encountered let alone owned.
First shot on my Stoeger STR 9 had a failure to feed, next shot was a stove pipe, third was a double feed. It had an 80% failure rate on my its first range test.
Field stripped it, cleaned and lubricated it and took to the range a second time. Did a little better but still malfunctioned 40% of the time.
In the first 100 rounds it had multiple failure to feeds, double feeds, failure to eject, failure to lock back on an empty mag.
The magazines are nearly impossible to fully load.
This gun is a total fail on Stoegers part. No gun should be on the market with these kind of failures, let alone a company that has been around as long as Stoeger.
I wouldn't recommend anyone getting this gun, even if it were free. Do not buy this weapon.
