(5 out of 5) The perfect Midwest deer slayer
by from Omaha, NE on

I’ve had this rifle for 5+ years now, and I can say that it is the absolute best .350 Legend rifle on the market. I hunt in Iowa in a group, where everyone shoots .350. I’m the only one with an XPR, and I’m also the only one who has never had an issue with their rifle. The Ruger jams, the Mossberg jams less but doesn’t shoot worth a damn. I can put 5 shots in an inch at 100 yards with mine. It has not once jammed in its thousands of rounds at the range and 20+ deer shot with it in the field. My only complaint is the lack of magazine capacity. 3+1 is fine for some, but in Iowa party hunting, it’s genuinely possible to have 1-shot kills and still run out of ammo. I have shot 3 deer dead with 4 rounds and could’ve gotten a fourth if I had had an extra round or two. Would love to see extended mag options of 5 or 10 rounds. The single-stack mag sacrifices capacity, but it makes feeding genuinely perfect. Even when trying, I can’t get this thing to jam. The bolt cycles great. Not custom rifle great, but come on, this thing was $500 when I bought it, $650 at the time of writing this review. It’s not a custom rifle, but it’s the only wood stock titanium Cerakote rifle on the market. And by god does it look good. Shame on the industry for trying to end wood stocks. Tupperware stocks are NOT better than wood. They’re CHEAPER than wood. Don’t buy them. Buy rifles with wood stocks. With the price of this rifle, it shows it’s plenty possible to have an affordable wood stock rifle these days. This rifle is everything you could ever need in the Midwest, but even outside of the Midwest, the .350 Legend, I’d argue, is an even better low-recoiling deer round than a .30-30 for thicker brush hunting. My hunting party calls my gun the Executioner, because once a deer is in range of me, it doesn’t miss. Thanks to shared tags within the party being legal in Iowa, there have been years that this rifle has fed 4 families in a matter of 3 days of hunting. 9.99/10, only thing I want is a 5 or 10-round mag as an option to purchase.

I havent had a chance to shoot it yet with all the rain that weve been getting recently. Its definitely the nicest looking 350 legend bolt action rifle that I have seen. I have seen them all. Savage, Ruger, Mossberg. This one looks like a true rifle should. The magazine is easy to take off and on. You wont be disappointed.
