The 1866 Yellowboy lever-action rifle is a marked improvement over the 1860 Henry rifle. It became a worldwide hit! A new loading gate devised by Winchester plant superintendent Nelson King that passes cartridges through the side of the receiver making lever action more functional and allowing for the installation of a wooden forend.
