Smith & Wesson makes it possible for you to own a piece of history-in-the-making with these Classic revolvers. They're the finest new handguns possible with designs harkening back to the most famous and collectible guns that Smith & Wesson ever constructed. Each is based on a model known for legendary performance then enhanced with modern advantages. They're the timeless best of both worlds, Smith & Wesson Classics.
I have owned dozens and dozens of handguns over the years, but this .357 S&W 27 takes the cake! Once I wiped off the powder and grime from test firing, she cleaned up beautifully. Action crisp and smooth. Balance is perfect with a 4" barrel on an N frame, at least for me. I have owned various 28s in the past, but this 27 is the true Flagship of the S&W lineup... always has been.
I hate the lock, but it isn't that noticeable anyhow. Once I got the sights adjusted, she shoots straight, loves 158 grain Magnum loads. I was easily nailing softball sized targets offhand at 25 yards, and I'm not that good! .38s recoil about like a .22 out of this fistful of steel. Yup, I carry her concealed in an AZULA OWB leather holster... with a sturdy belt and an over-sized shirt, actually pretty easy to hide.
This model 27, a direct descendant of the original Registered Magnum beats the Colt Python and Mark 3 Trooper I use to own, hands down. Stronger action, better sights, better trigger. Hey, if the S&W 27 was the gun of choice for General Patton, Col Askins and FBI Agent Walsh, who am I to argue?! While this gun may not appease the plastic / Tacticool crowd, for lovers of vintage blue steel revolvers with walnut grips, THIS is the cream of the crop.
