We all grew up hearing the phrase, “Faster than a speeding bullet...,” but not when it is fired from Smith & Wesson’s new Model 460XVR, with the highest muzzle velocity of any production revolver on earth. The Model 460XVR is so revolutionary that it required an entirely new designation...XVR, the X-treme Velocity Revolver.
Starting with their Extra Large Frame, the Smith & Wesson engineers worked to deliver maximum velocity - over 2,300 feet per second - to reach the target faster than ever before. The 460XVR™ has interchangeable compensators to accommodate every load and its “gain-twist” rifled barrel means superb long-range accuracy (beyond 200 yards) with every shot!
I have never been much into handguns. I own several, mostly 22s. Then I bought a 9 mm Ruger. It's ok. Then I bought a 357 revolver. A little better and then I read about the S & W 460 magnum. After thinking about getting one for a year I finally bought one.
This revolver is nothing short of awesome. Very accurate with open sights at 100 yards. Have not shot it at a target beyond 100 yards. It does have recoil but not that bad. You do need hearing protection! It is now my favorite gun of all. I plan on taking it deer hunting this year. It is made very well. Great looking handgun that is a beast. I love it!
Exetremly accurate. 45 LC is a pleasure all day long. 454 and 460 on the other hand gives a crazy percussion that will make people next to you have an involuntary bowel movement! Could be good, could be bad. Depends if they are riding home with you in the car. Other than that can't wait to do some big game hunting!
All I can say is WOW! This hand canon is awesome and fun to shoot. I reload so ammo isn't that bad and every time I fire this thing on the range, anyone close to me stop and wonder.... what the heck was that..! :- Just put in a Sig Sauer Romeo red dot scope and about to sight it over the weekend. Can't wait..!
I have wanted this revolver for years but didn't Need It. I took the plunge and bought one about 6 months ago, and am I ever happy I did. Shoots dead on both sides at 100 yards and well hit a 12 inch gun plate 250 yards. It is fun to shoot. Every time I have it at the range, several people ask me if they can take a couple shots. I love the versatility of shooting 45 Colts, 454 Casull, or 460 Magnums. It has killed four hogs; one of them 275 pounds. All four only required with one shot dropping them right where they stood. Surprisingly, The recoil is very manageable for such a powerful round.
