(5 out of 5) Great rifle
by from San Jose, CA on

Love this rifle, period. Just recently started going to the range, so, not much experience. Was shooting with the irons for the first couple of trips and had some tough time keeping the group within 6 inch target. I'd say I was within 8 inch at 100 yards. I thought maybe I got something like one of the reviewers here and it's a lemon , but, turned out I am just bad. I got me a scope, and , all I can say, this rifle is a stapler - in the hands of a good shooter it can easily keep 2 inch group even 1.5 is totally possible. Not saying I suddenly became good, it's just I used two-point bench rest and took my time to aim and trigger control.

For beginner shooters or new to M1A, I strongly recommend to watch tonyben3 on YT and his vids on maintenance. This gun is expected to have high tolerances and one should not expect match performance from it. I am very grateful to Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore for having this rifle at the price point where I was able to afford it, now I just have to learn to shoot it with irons.

Great price and wonderful service from Sportsman Outdoors. Terrible rifle. I guess I got a lemon that was made on Friday because so far I have sent it back to Springfield twice due to problems with wandering groups. Sometimes found bullets that were tumbling at 150m. Then again Springfield rifles are made in Brazil now so what can you do.

Great rifle, a lot of fun to shoot, accurate at 100 yards even with only Iron sights.

I have been a customer of yours for a couple of years and would like to voice how deep my appreciation for your services is. Unlike other stores, you actually keep your word on matching your products prices with that of the competitions, even when that product was high in demand. Besides this, when I ordered a Springfield rifle from you, you shipped it with a Springfield tactical rifle bag. Thank you and God bless!
