The Bear Ops AC-1400 is part of the Auto Bold Action XIV series. The Hollow Ground 1.5" blade edge is made with S30V Premium Steel with a Black Finish allowing for a tough blade with great edge retention. The blade quickly opens with a press of the raised button with a safety lock switch just below. Although it is an automatic, the small blade size makes it legal to carry in the State of California. The Stainless Steel 2.5" handle features a pocket clip for tip-up carry. The Bear Ops AC-1400 has an overall length of 4.25" and weighs 1.4 ounces. Bold Action XIV is proudly made in the USA

This small auto from Bear is a good-looking knife made from quality components. Its small size makes it easy to hide/conceal. The stainless blackened blade is razor sharp from the box. I bought this knife for a few reasons. First, it’s made by Bear in the USA. Second, the sale price savings of $30 makes the purchase a no-brainer. Third, I collect autos and I wanted an American-made mini. I’m saving the box and velveteen pouch the knife comes in because these, too, are quality made. This little auto is very well made and can hold up to EDC and use. Great little knife to keep clipped into your pocket.
Knife looks fun. Looks nice. Very different. However, when the blade swings out, it does not lock in the out position. You have to manually bump the blade into the locked position. This is kind of dangerous for an automatic because if you forget to lock it out, you will get cut when it folds back on you. The knife appears dry. Not sure if a little oil will help. It may be one of those stupid products that you have to break it in to get it to work. I may have to sit around one evening watching TV, cycling the knife, and irritating the wife. I usually don't spend this much on a knife, but thought it looked fun. So far, not really fun.
