The M&P22 is a popular addition to the M&P line of semi-auto pistols. It was designed by Smith & Wesson/Walther to be a true and dedicated .22LR. The M&P22 Pistol combines the look, feel and familiar operating features of the trusted M&P series of centerfire pistols. The M&P22 is ideally suited for training or simple shooting enjoyment with the popular and inexpensive .22LR cartridge.
With ammo be scarce right now and wayyy overpriced when it is available, we are forced to go to the 22lr. Shot about 200 rounds of 22LR, again gun shoot flawlessly. Id buy another one, if i could get one.
This pistol is so much fun to shoot, I started my son shooting this gun and worked his way up to the full size m and p 9mm. He shoots the 22LR extremely well, no recoil and so cheap to shoot, would deff recommend.
If you able to get your hands on 22lr and looking for a way to offset the cost of the higher caliber handguns, then you wont be disappointed in this firearm. Very light almost too light being a 22 and is a comfortable shooter. Zero recoil so it really gives you a chance to work on your mechanics. I start off with it to warm up to my 9mm, and then by the time I go back to the M&P 22 at the end of my range time, I am knocking out quarters with the right ammo. Like most 22s .. it gets a little finicky with ammo. But easy to break down and clean to avert most of those headaches For home defense Not something I am qualified to speak to .. but can say that if I was are going that route, I would load two mags and buy the very best 22lr ammo I could buy.
