Springfield XDS-9 Features
Superior design features give the Springfield XDS™ capabilities that not all pistols of its size can claim. Making the XD-S™ easy and comfortable to fire is one the highest priorities of the XD® line. Many characteristics of the XD-S™ model are especially beneficial to those with a concealed carry license, like the less bulky frame and ability to customize the grip.
- Ultra Safety Assurance (USA) Trigger System: The USA Trigger System guards against accidental discharge, from dropping or bumping it, by locking the trigger in place until direct rearward pressure is applied.
- Loaded Chamber Indicator: The Loaded Chamber Indicator allows the shooter to verify without a doubt, visually or by touch, that there is a round in the chamber.
- Picatinny Rail System: A single-position Picatinny rail readily accepts lights, lasers or other pistol accessories. It is one of the only polymer pistols of this size that has this feature, which makes it an easy reach for the light or laser of your choice.
- Snag Free Sights: The rear sight on the XD-S is low-profile and holster friendly. Easier and faster target acquisition is achieved with a fiber optic front sight.
- Secure Grip Texture: The “all-terrain” look of the XD(M) has proven to work so well that the texture has been enhanced for the XD-S™ with an even more pronounced texture to ensure your grip is always secure.
- Mould-Tru Backstraps: With two interchangeable backstraps, Springfield Armory® has stayed true to their focus on providing the user with the most comfortable, and easy to point pistol possible by allowing you to custom fit your grip.
- Melonite Finish and Carrying Case: To preserve the safety and quality of your pistol, Springfield added a Melonite finish on all XD models for a deep penetrating finish that protects against corrosion. Also, the rugged case you get is as durable as the XDS it carries.

PROS:
-Slim at only 1"
-No malfunctions so far 250 rounds
-Bright fiber optic front sight, with replacement red and green tubes
-Accurate at reasonable CCW distances
-decent capacity in 9mm
CONS:
-Sharp, aggressive grips I added Talon grips and now it's perfect
-Included holster is low-end and sticks out too far for overshirt CC for me, but it's great for range carry.
-Stock flat 7rd mags are too small for my pinky to stay on the grip I added pearce extensions
Also, I applied for the 3 free mags promotion, was told 8-12 weeks for processing, but had the mags at my door within 10 days!
After carrying 4 different size 9mm compacts LC9, MP9c, PX4c and XDs this is my favorite of the bunch for carry. The passive safety features are great for carry grip and trigger safeties and require no additional steps to be ready to use the pistol besides having a firm grip. I really like this XDs.
Fantastic service from Sportsmans. They had the lowest price and free shipping, so I thought why not. I ordered Monday night and my FFL received it Thursday morning! I called CS to ensure they received a copy of my FFL's info and my call was returned in a couple hours. I will definitely check Sportsmans for future purchases.
