These new models retain original design features that have helped to solidify the M&P Shield’s reputation in the marketplace as a reliable and accurate self-defense firearm.
Engineered on a high-strength polymer frame measuring .95-inches in width, the Performance Center M&P Shield is standard with a 3.1-inch factory-ported barrel. The new barrel along with the pistol’s three precision cut ports across the top of the stainless steel slide aid in reducing muzzle flip and improve the ability to remain on target after firing. The new M&P Shield pistols have been further updated with fiber optic sights and an enhanced trigger.

This is a fantastic firearm. Comfortable to shoot and carry. It is easy to maintain and accurate to shoot. Even without the rebate, this is definitely a great value for the price. Makes me want to look into their full sized line of firearms.
I always wanted to get a Shield but did not want to spend the money. I figured might as well get a full size. Now that these have a $75 rebate till June 2017 plus the $389 price tag of this performance center, it was a no brainer. Ported barrel and slide, enhanced trigger, HiViz sights; very much worth the $80 more than the base model. This one at $389 its already $110 below its normal price. You may have to adjust the sights but besides that it is perfect!! IT IS A PLEASURE TO SHOOT THIS!!
I wanted the performance model but they were sold out. One day before my gun shipped, the performance model was back in stock. Emailed them and ask if they could send me the performance model and they said of course....Thank you.
As I've gotten older, I've developed arthritis in both hands. Couple the porting with a 9mm and I can definitely tell the deference for the better. Easy on my hands, love the trigger and easy to conceal.
The Shield fits my hands like a glove, they shoot nicely, but the Perf Center is super well executed. My only issue is, potentially losing my night vision due to the ported barrel, & the flash from the ports. Other than for that, everything about these guns was super nicely executed by S&W. Trigger is markedly improved. Recoil & muzzle flip, are also markedly improved. S&W did a fine job with these, and for BUG category in IDPA/IPSC this would be a fine comp piece. These make my Glock 43 seem like rather a toy, or an Auxiliary Piece, that I really don't like to shoot. S&W deserves a lot of credit for this one! WELL DONE! I just need to remember to blink when I shoot at night. Easy!
This gun is easy to shoot. Gets back on target quickly. Best I have ever shot was with this shield....LOVE IT!
Another great transaction from SOSS. 4th firearm purchased from them without a hitch. I will shop no other place. Keep up the great work! Oh yeah forgot about the gun review. It's really stiff. The slide release is a pure struggle to release. Hopefully this is just from being brand new. SOSS rocks!!
