(5 out of 5) Great Rifle, It arrived with the handguard scraped up
by from Nova, VA on

Great rifle. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an 18 inch rifle not overly concerned about weight. This is definitely a competition or SPR rifle first, and a defensive rifle second given the length and weight. I give the rifle 5 stars, and Sportsman's 2 stars. Sportsman's customer service was good concerning shipping.

Now for the rifle. Accuracy - Sub MOA Capable Function - No fails from XM193, Fiocchi 223 55 grain to FC 262. Balance - Great Furniture - Didn't like the Hogue grip. Hand guard is great and easily swap-able. Not as heavy as you would think. I think Troy said its 12 oz. It takes a standard barrel nut.

Muzzle device: looks cheesy on the pics, but cool in real life. The 18 inch barrel, rifle length system is excellent. It makes shooting my 15T seem like a .308. Trigger is excellent. Typical S&W quality on that.

Fit and Finish - The fit is about a 9.5 out of 10, which is really bad if you care about fit. I say this because there is no wobble, more of a click -- which means accuwedging it is bad as heck. I have a 15T and I had to shave an accuwedge down until its almost paper thin. The 15T had some play. I can't imagine accuwedging this thing, which I want to. I can remove all movement. As stated above, the rifle arrived with wear on the hand guard, likely attributed to movement on a hard surface. Accuracy is aces. Not as good as perhaps an Odinworks .223 Wylde, but good nonetheless. I've shot a fair amount of rounds through it, and the largest group I've gotten was with Fiocchi FMJ BT and it was 2.25. I've also shot two Fiocchi rounds into half MOA when sighting for what its worth. Gun seems to like Hornady 75 grain match, Sig 77 gr otm, Fiocchi 69 gr smk. Multiple sub MOA groups coming with those rounds. Best rounds were Hornady Match 75 - .45 MOA, Sig OTM 77 gr - .5 MOA & .67 MOA, and Fiocchi SMK 69 Gr - .63 MOA.
