Ruger has long set the standard for reliable, affordable and accurate .22 LR handguns, beginning with the introduction of the Standard Pistol in 1949. Since then, the Standard Pistol has undergone a series of enhancements with the development of the Mark I, Mark II™ and then the Mark III™ in 2005.
While the heavily redesigned Mark IV Hunter maintains the same classic outward appearance as the Mark III, it incorporates a significant improvement customers will love - a simple, one-button takedown for quick and easy field-stripping. A recessed button in the back of the frame allows the upper receiver to tilt up and off of the grip frame without the use of tools. The bolt simply slides out of the receiver and the barrel can be properly cleaned from chamber to muzzle.
Other significant improvements include a one-piece grip frame that is precision CNC-machined from a solid piece of stainless steel; an ambidextrous manual safety and a redesigned bolt stop for more ergonomic operation. The magazine drops free on release for faster reloads and a redesigned magazine disconnect safety prevents discharge when the magazine has been removed. Internal improvements include changes to the hammer, sear, bolt and firing pin for smoother, more reliable feeding.
This pistol is everything people have been saying and more. It is beautiful with the nice oversized grips and the fluted barrel. It is on the heavy side, which is good to eliminate what recoil a 22lr has, but I wouldn’t want to hold it at arms length all day long. The rear portion of the bolt where you grab to “charge” the pistol is very sharp. I opted to get a halo ring from Ruger to make charging it easier and safer on the fingers. The trigger is adequate but I ordered a Volquartsen trigger kit to make it even better.
Bought this Hunter MK IV for my wife to learn how to safely handle and operate a firearm. Having never fired a gun before she managed to fire nearly all 30 rounds near or in the bullseye at 10 yards. Due to its weight, 44 ounces, it is like shooting an air gun. The target grips fit my wife's hand like a glove. No miss feeds and operated perfectly. Gorgeous handgun and takedown and cleaning is absolutely the easiest of any handgun I've ever owned. Retired SCPO, USN and former police officer.
This Ruger Mark 4 Hunter model is a very accurate pistol. The target grips are very nice and you get a nice grip to hold the pistol. Take down is great and Ruger has great customer service. You will never go wrong buying a Ruger Firearm.
This pistol is very accurate. The pistol functioned great right out of the box. The over sized grips on this Hunter fit your hand like a glove. The take down for cleaning was so easy. Ruger has great customer service and stands behind their guns. That is one reason I buy Ruger Firearms. The second reason; they are very reliable .
The item arrived quickly and was the best price by far. The shipping and order process was flawless and quick. I couldn't ask for anything more. I will continue to buy with confidence from SOS.
