What's in the Box

  • Taurus G3 9mm Black Striker-Fired Pistol
  • (1) 17-Round Magazine
  • (1) 15-Round Magazine
  • Cable Lock
  • Owner's Manual

In response to consumer demand, Taurus steps boldly into the full-frame striker-fired segment with the all-new G3 semi-auto 9mm pistol.

The G3 starts with a full-size polymer frame that incorporates several features intended to enhance comfort and utility. Most prominent are the aggressively stippled grip patches strategically placed along the front strap, side panels, and back strap. These patches provide a no-slip purchase in the critical areas beneath the shooter's palm and fingers yet are not so dominant as to be uncomfortable during extended range or competition sessions.

Also aiding in grip and optimal hand alignment is an ergonomically crafted palm swell with smooth contouring located high on the backstrap. This design effortlessly places the strong hand high and tight on the frame, eliminating gapping between the top of the shooter's hand and the back of the frame and promoting straight wrist alignment for more natural muzzle control.

Further assisting in comfortable, repeatable grip and hand alignment are thumb shelves on either side of the grip. The shelves help the shooter achieve a solid lock and fast grip orientation. They also place the index finger in position for a straight pull on the trigger.

The G3's ergonomics do not stop at the polymer frame. Smooth contouring along the slide blends with a slightly tapered slide profile to minimize bulk and to deliver comfortable operation when actuating the slide. To ensure a no-slip grip when chambering a cartridge or opening the slide for inspection, the G3 features generous front and rear machined serrations. For smooth holstering and to minimize clothing snags, the G3 has uniform beveling along the front of the slide and frame, and a steep contoured bevel along the back of the slide.

As a striker-fired pistol, the G3 utilizes a single-action firing system once a cartridge is chambered. What sets the G3 apart from competing models is its second-strike capability. In the event of a failure-to-fire condition, the shooter can reset and pull the trigger again to restrike the primer.

Hard to out do yourself after making a gun like the G2C. Never thought it would happen, until I ran my first magazine through the G3. WOW! The feel in my big ass hands on my G2C, then the feel on my G3, not a big difference, but a little more relaxed. Not saying the feel of the G2C is not a good feel, just a better feel in my big hands with the G3. I would say purchase two of each! I have run over 2000 rounds through my G2C, well both of them, and they feel just like the day I bought them, and not even a scratch in the barrel. The only upgrade I have made to my G2Cis, the recoil spring and rod. No longer plastic, Stainless, both the spring, and the barrel, and the spring has 2 more pounds of strength. Taurus has hit the mark with this line of firearms and I am glad they did. I cant say enough, you will just have to try one out and see.

(1 out of 5) Used g3 for sale! New price
by from Boise, ID on

This is my fourth Taurus purchase from SOSS. This particular Taurus G3 is the only one that I had any issue with. First issue, the gun wasn’t new. It must have had at least 50-100 rounds through it. Someone cleaned it up a little after using it but did a bad job, still dirty and there was no oil on it whatsoever, mags were also dirty. Second issue, the matte finish on the barrel has been well worn off from a good amount of use. Third issue, the inside of the barrel has chattering and rust. Fourth issue, both mags have broken followers which causes them to turn sideways when loaded, the rounds rattle around in the mag obnoxiously. Not sure if they will cycle as I haven’t fired it, but someone else sure has. Fifth issue more rust on fire control block. I don’t blame any of this on SOSS who have always provided great products, prices and service. I’m sure they didn’t know the gun was used. I could have returned it but they’re out of stock so I couldn’t get a replacement so I decided to keep it and contact Taurus with my issues. I wanted to post this review here so that if you’re buying one you know what to look out for. Happy hunting.

(4 out of 5) Taurus G3
by from Sachse, TX on

Recently decided to purchase my first firearm for home defense. Decided to get this after reading other input and discussing with friends who have previous Taurus G2. Sportsmans Outdoors was easy to work with in ordering and receiving to FFL. The firearm itself is a good fit for me. Been to the range with it and was easy to use and trouble free. The only thing I was not excited about was loading the magazine was a bit challenging on the spring load vs another training brand/model I had used. Overall very happy with this purpose and years of training ahead with it

by from New Castle, DE on

Must say i'm very impressed by the power of this thing. Went to the range and fired 100 rounds with no issues at all. I would absolutely recommend this gun and even buy another one in a different color. Can't beat the price.

Love the look and feel of the gun, the finger placements pads on it make it really natural to hold. Smooth action when firing the 100 rounds Ive put through it so far. Great gun, not just for the price but in general.

(5 out of 5) I Like It.. might have to buy one for the wife..
by from Riverview, FL on

I have owned a Taurus PT111 Millennium G2 for about 5 years and LOVE IT. So when I saw the G3 I HAD to give it a try. I must say. I'm Impressed. It feels Great in the hand and the 17 round mag with the extender feels super comfortable. The G3 points, aims and shoots Very Accurately. Trigger feels good also. I cleaned it and lubed it good before shooting. No problem or issues at all. The G3 functioned like it should. Without any problems. I have already reccommended it to several of my friends that are looking for a Good 9mm pistol. Best Under $300 pistol out there. Great Shooter.

by from Anderson, SC on

I started with the PT111, fell in love, then the G2C. I love both of them, now the G3 is out. I bought one as soon as it came out, another great gun. If you are looking for a goat, yes I said Goat, because it will eat any ammo you feed it no problem. Love the 9mm nothing will ever change my mind .

(5 out of 5) Taurus did it again!
by from Spring Lake, NC on

I have 2 G2C, a black and ODG and enjoy both! When I saw that the G3 was in the making I preordered it without hesitation and I was not disappointed with the gun nor did I regret my purchase. Taurus struck again! I got it as soon as they were released. The trigger on the G3 is way better than the G2C for sure. That full grip makes a big difference and the mags fit the G2C which is a big plus!

Purchased a G3 because I really enjoyed the G2C. The G3 doesn't disappoint, smooth trigger, light weight modular design is ergonomically pleasing. Best 249 dollars I've spent. Great gun! What are you waiting for get one?!
