This Exclusive Savage Axis II Bolt-Action Rifle features a Veil Whitetail Camo Stock, Carbon Steel Heavy Barrel, and a Bushnell 4-12x40mm Riflescope, mounted & bore sighted.
I bought this rifle without a scope at Walmart due it having a heavy contour barrel. With a box of Federal American Eagle 140otm after adjusting the trigger I was blown away at how accurate this rifle was for its price printing .6 and under at 100. After mounting a Sightmark 40× scope and a Boyd's varmint stock, I did load development with 140 grain eldms and 140 nobler RDFs over accurate 4064 and target, rifle easily prints 1 inch groups at 300 yards.
After sighting in, I was able to shoot MOA immediately. While lightweight, the rifle is a pleasure to shoot about 1-1/2 lbs. lighter than my Remington 700, 30-06, thanks in part to the shape of the stock, and the lighter kick of the 6.5 Creedmoor rounds. This Savage Axis II performs just as described in a recent issue of Shooting Illustrated. I have no complaints about the rifle. My only disappointment was that the scope was not bore sighted as had been advertised in your product description. Truly, that was a minor issue - Ive been doing this for a while, and sighting in a new rifle/scope combination is more of a chance for familiarization than an unpleasant chore. Overall, this rifle is a terrific shooter, and a welcome addition to my collection.
It was a great deal for a 6.5 with scope. Many said that it wasn’t bore sighted out of the box but mine was on paper, about 5 inches low and 5 to the right. A couple adjustments about 4 groups of 3 shots each and I had 1-2 inch groups at 100 yards. Overall it is consistent and accurate. Ensure that the threaded barrel cap is securely in place before hitting the range and every so often.. only advice I have. I do think it would benefit from a scope upgrade but the one that comes with it will get the job done. Overall, a great deal.. Very satisfied.. Will continue to use this site in the future.
Bought about a month and a half ago.. finally went to the range, ammo.. bore site.. a little off.. roughly 16 in right and 2 in low.., and scope not mounted back far enough for my stock comfortably/secure in shoulder, black hallo in scope. Started at 25yrd.. adjustments made.. 1/2 in MOA.. 100 yds, recoil not bad, need fine tuning but sub MOA most definitely possible.. in my opinion.. muzzle brake, different ammo and a better scope.. sorry.. Nice rifle for the money, not disappointed.
