I decided to graduate into the polymer world, haphazardly, because I love love love me some beavertails! So I did what everyone else does... and took some steps down that old glockity glock road. Love me some .40... and there is simply no way to carry my SW SS 4006 in any other fashion than open carry in Kirkpatrick leather. Finally, a SW .40 polymer striker fire for old schoolies like me. I did pay a higher price for the 3.6” with ambi safety, 4 mag swells, 2 mag extenders, 3 13-round mags, etc. etc. in the box. I went back and forth with Hogue until I realized a Sig compact product in beavertail was the way to go. I like Truglo TPX sights and I'm gonna tuck this baby away in a Milt Sparks SSII. In the meantime, my local guy fixed me up with a black carbon fiber Kydex IWB that wears very well at 3-4 o'clock. Full cant.
This really is the last of the Carry Compacts from S&W. Smith still makes the Shield for a micro selection, but they stopped their Compact Carry selection. Now they have Fanboy Dot Cutout this with a Compensator that. The only selections you have now are what Fanboys shoot paper with. Not something you're actually going to carry for defense. This is a backup for my daily carry, as there's going to be no way to replace a compact carry after these are gone. So into the safe it goes, in case something happens to my favorite carry item.
I'm a commission officer level 3, I have my service weapon just like the one I bought, I wanted my own so love SW .40 MP. You have good variety, looking forward to do more business. From Texas.
I wanted the 3.6" barrel, but they’re hard to find and pricey. This one
was a great price and came with three mags. It’s one sweet shooter. The
4-inch barrel is well-balanced and only slightly harder for appendix
carry. The fit, finish, and trigger are all first-rate. One of the
nicest striker-fired pistols I own now. It just feels right.
I was hoping for a well balanced compact with a comfortable grip. I tried the competitor's compacts and sold the nines, and 45s. There's more than just concealability. It should fit in your hand and be manageable. You get 4 total palm swells and the 3 mags. The 3-dot sights are larger than most, very easy to sight with. I like the gritty texture of the grip, and it doesn't bother me. The first 100 rounds, I had no problems feeding with street load ammo either (165 and 180 grains ammo).
