(5 out of 5) Excellent Product
by from Hartselle, AL on

Even with shipping delay notices due to the virus, I received it in three weeks. That gave me time to read all the reviews here and save some videos on YouTube and purchase a couple of good users guides. First, before you shoot it for the first time as with any firearm break it down and remove all the packing grease. Then use a good grease and lube on the firearm. I use Mill-Comm TW25B, because that's what was recommended from the arsenal I work on. And, I use TLC as a lubricant personal choice.

I took it out on the range for the first time and set the battle sites exactly as recommended by the manual, The NEW M14 Complete Owners Guide for 25 yards with a 200 yard zero. My next visit to the range, I took shots at 100 yards. I moved the elevation knob back two clicks and moved the windage knob two clicks for wind. It worked exactly like the manual said it would. Even though I could barely see the dot I was aiming at, I was hitting within 2 MOA. Perfect for a battle rifle. I wish there was a way I could provide pictures. I couldn't be happier.

(5 out of 5) M1A Scout Squad Walnut
by from Niles, MI on

I relieved the M1A from the ffl within 5 days of placing my order, super fast delivery and free shipping! The walnut stock on this rifle is gorgeous. The only issue I had was a loose castle nut on the end of the barrel that holds the sight and flash hider onto the barrel. After tightening it up and making sure my front sight was centered it was good to go. Have put 200 or so rounds through this scout squad so far with zero issues what so ever. Very accurate and soft shooting for a short barreled 308.

(5 out of 5) A rifleman's rifle
by from Hope Mills, North Carolina on

I have shot other friends coveted M14/M1A rifles over the years and always wanted one`;` especially The Scout Squad The 18in barrel is more compatible with my environment than a longer barreled weapon. The versatility is on point for my needs. in the last 7-8 years and finally bought this beauty in Walnut stock! Sportsman's Outdoor's price was unbeatable, they shipped it to my FFL and 5 days after I purchased it, it was available for me to pick up. The Iron sights are some of the best peep sights I have ever used. I am reluctant to put an optic on it, although I may so long as it will hold a zero if removed and reattached. It is not a sub 1 MOA weapon, but it is a very consistent shooter at approx 2+ MOA. from the bench. It hits the target consistently when shooting at steel and paper silhouettes. This is completely stock, no mods and again, iron sights zeroed off a sand bag I zeroed with Winchester 147 grain FMJ rounds and shot a small steel target consistently at 250 yards 228.6 Meters with Iron sights. I am actively seeking a longer range and really test it. I anticipate 500-600 meter consistency.

The rifle has a well balanced feel and despite the weight of its gas operated auto action, wood stock and a full 20 rd Magazine, it is a pleasure to shoulder and fire. It cycled most rds well. I had 2 malfunctions out of almost 200 rounds fired and that was likely the ammo, which was 37 yr old, berdan primed Malaysian military surplus ammo, with a dirty film on the casing. No issues with Winchester or PPU Brass. I feel confident to hunt deer or hogs at ranges out to 250 yds with Iron sights. Longer if scoped Take it from someone who has waited a long time to finally purchase. Don't waste another moment of your life without this rifle, if you don't have to. Its a joy to shoot! So Buy it, give it a name and make it yours.
