The Taurus Model 605 is built to the Taurus Zero Tolerance standard in design, fabrication, fit and performance. Meaning there is simply no tolerance for parts that do not perform as if someone’s life depends on them. Using the powerful .357 Magnum cartridge, this quick-draw revolver has plenty of muscle to back it up. Features include fixed sights, crisp single-double action trigger and a transfer bar for added safety.
Initially had to file the cylinder stop to ensure lock up. Also had to secure the ejector rod with Lock Tite. Minor stuff but still bothersome. Now it runs like a champ and handles heavy duty loads reliably. Very fun to shoot. Confident to use as EDC. Well worth the price if you don't mind doing a little tweaking.
Dont dont do it.
The 605 I purchased has been pure regret. I wish I listened to people. I had to send it in for a warranty repair out of the box.
-Bent ejector rod/End shake.
-Cylinder Is prematurely peening on the notches.
-Lock up is looser on several Chambers as a result.
-I had the action lock up while dry firing. Fast/Slow fire in DA.
-Cylinder nammed up when extracting snap caps.
CUSTOMER Service is bad. -Spend hours on hold between two different days. -Have to argue for them to pick up shipping. After 90 days from purchase date it comes out of your pocket. -Poor communication, one rep had a bad attitude and got my address wrong. -12 week turn around time. -The only issue corrected was unnamming the cylinder... So far nothing has been positive. Looking back I wish I spent extra on a Ruger/Smith. They will take care of you for life and do it in a fast and efficient manner. Forget Taurus and the 3rd world country they make their firearms in. The revolvers themselves are decent. But the QC/Customer service is so bad. Out of the box this is just unacceptable. FYI guns made after 2016 will only have a 2 year warranty. For the record I really wanted to like this thing. The size/weight was perfect for me. Trigger wasnt bad at all. But when a new revolver has end shake, a loose cylinder, and jams more than a lorcin... RUN If you want a budget revolver, go with EAA or Charter Smith or Ruger is worth paying extra however. I really wanted to like this, at first I thought the hate for Taurus was unjustified, but I see it is very legit.
Great price from Sportsman Outdoor Superstore. 5th gun I have bought from them this year. Their prices are the best around period. The 605 is a great shooting Revolver. Was very accurate for such a small gun. Like the flat black finish and grips are very comfortable. The recoil was manageable with 357 and very mild with 38 special. I am very pleased with this purchase.
