The PT-738 Taurus Compact Pistol (TCP) is the lightest firearm Taurus has ever created. The 10.2-ounce 738 TCP is not only the lightest semi-auto in the Taurus line; it’s lighter than any of their small frame revolvers too. The Taurus 738 TCP is made in the USA and offers 6+1 shots of .380 ACP, a durable polymer frame and low-profile fixed sights.
Additional highlighted features of the Taurus TCP include a loaded chamber indicator for added safety, a unique tread pattern on the slide for positive pull and functioning, and a generously sized trigger guard for quick and intuitive access.
Mine is a bit ammo sensitive but once I found the right brand of .380 it has run flawlessly for 400 rounds. Doesn't like Hollow point but the FMJ is plenty deadly. It ejects straight back so I've been burned a couple times by the shells. Took it to a gunsmith who said he couldn't fix the ejector but if I'm in a fight for my life I'm not going to worry about a hot shell. I'm satisfied this firearm is reliable enough to save my life if the day ever comes. Keep it clean. Keep it oiled. It will go bang every single time.
My best companion hands down. There is a bit of a hangup when chambering, not sure why but I like that it's made in the USA.
I bought this 380 with very little expectations. Extremely light as a conceal carry and fairly accurate for such a small pistol and good trigger action. I also have a Ruger 380 that is the same format and like it much less, the trigger action is way too deep. Easy to disassemble and clean. I did find the grip wasn't long enough for my hand but I simply swapped out the standard magazine grip for a slightly extended one. A real bargain.
This is a great gun. It shoots very accurately and has a little kick to it. I would recommend that anyone looking to conceal and carry a firearm, please purchase this little guy. He's a triple threat.
What a sweet little pistol. It is very lightweight and easy to have inside your belt or in your pocket. I purchased a laser sight and and set it at 21 feet. This puts it right on target and it packs a punch for a small weapon. Only thing I didn't care for is the short grip. I purchased extensions after trying them on a friends TCP 738. All around great little 380. I would recommend it for sure and it is made in the USA.
This is a very nice little pistol for the money. Shoots well with a nice trigger. Perfect size for concealed carry. I bought a PT 738 about a week ago, and liked the first one so much, I bought a second one. At this price you cannot go wrong. The addition of a small grip extension makes this pistol perfect. SOS- fast shipping and great prices. I'll keep coming back.
This pistol is easily concealed and very light/easy to maneuver. Smooth trigger pull. As for SOS-lightning fast shipping and great price on this Taurus.
The Taurus 738 fired all sorts of ammo when first used. Russian, Remanufactured, and various domestic. Different bullet types too. The trigger is good, but you have to understand the reset means the trigger goes way forward. The grip should have a grip extension included, it is MUCH better with an aftermarket product. I favor the Taurus 738 over the competing Ruger product which I also have. Just be aware when you get/consider.
I took this gun to the range yesterday and WOW!!! I ran 100 rounds of cheap ammo thru it and not one FTF or misfire. It was very accurate with the better ammo. It does have a little more kick than the S&W Body Guard, but it is also smaller and lighter, so that was expected. Very reliable. All and all it is a great pocket gun for the price and I would highly recommend it.
I have owned, and fired many times, several small 380 pistols. This includes the Kel Tec P3AT, and the Ruger LCP. I also own the Glock 42. For a small 380 pocket pistol although I carry it in a holster it can't be beat. It has a nice, smooth, trigger pull and I have fired many rounds through it and it is a very dependable and not finicky pistol. It isn't a range gun, but you can take it out and practice with it enough to know what its capabilities are and carry it with confidence. It is a close range live saver. The only 380 that out performs it is the Glock 42, which is a bit bigger. If you are looking for a little 380 that you can depend on, this is the gun. Throw some Atomic 90gr defensive cartridges in it and you will be well defended.
Just finished concealed weapon course. Need a gun for traveling.
I have had the TCP for a month. I have fired over 200 rounds without a single issue. It is accurate with all 6 rounds in a paper plate up to 10 yards every time. Like all the DAO .380s, it will beat up your trigger finger but it is not a range gun. Practice with it occasionally and put it in your pocket. For the price you cant beat it.
I have purchased two of these over the past year. Great overall conceal gun. I have had Sig 238, and ruger LCP. Like the lightweight of the gun and fill trigger is very nice. The trigger of this gun is better than LCP. This gun fits in your front pocket very nicely and is so light that you do not mind carrying daily.
