Henry produces, hands down, some of the best-looking lever action rifles on the market in their brass and silver models, but as a part of their aggressive expansion in to the more utilitarian side of life with newer steel centerfires meant for everyday life in the truck, on the farm, and through the woods, in 2016 they introduce the hard-working All-Weather H010AW in .45-70.
In profile and general dimensions, this rifle is essentially the same as its blued steel counterpart, with an 18.43quot; round barrel with a 4-shot magazine, and an adjustable buckhorn/bead sight.
In a tough world where a working rifle might be ldquo;rode hard and put away wetrdquo;, this is the finish you want on it. A very strong plating permanently bonded to the steel underneath, hard chrome doesnrsquo;t flake, chip, or peel, and its corrosion resistance is actually stronger than some stainless steels. The treatment we use increases surface hardness, reduces friction on moving parts, doesnrsquo;t normally scuff or scratch, and leaves a low-gloss look that wonrsquo;t spook game.
This all weather 45-70 heirloom is a disappointment`;` immediately returned to Henry and had to have bolt replaced and adjustment to lever and plastic tab that sits beneath the lever before it was ever shot. The forend wobbles... This all weather felt nothing like my Henry all weather .357, huge dissapointment. Biggest problem is unique serial number on Heirloom prevents me from getting rid of it and that is my fault, could not even refuse when inspecting at FFL after delivery with name in serial number. Does not cycle like my .357 and feels cheap and unrefined, totally different than my prior .357 all weather experience.
