The Kimber Independence is Kimber's latest commemorative edition and the first compensated special edition. Featuring a patent-pending proprietary compensator, this limited edition Independence model is chambered in .45 Auto and is a testament to celebrating the July 4th holiday with a custom-tailored Cerakote finish. The Independence also features slide lightening cuts and a port along the forward top strap. Racing serrations at the rear of the slide are designed to mimic the flag's movement that adorns the entire pistol.

Greetings SOSS and Kimber 1911 fans! After nearly two weeks of trouble with ordering via the website I eventually was able purchase this marvelous American full-size 1911 pistol over a year ago in May 2025. I am just getting around to writing up a review mainly because I stowed this collectors item away and finally got around to cleaning and took it on a trip to Alaska with me and fired it for the first time. Well it operated 100% perfect and flawlessly worked through 200 rounds of various manufactered factory brass cased 230gr FMJ ammo! First up was 100 rounds of Winchester Target & Practice range pack white box, then Federal American Eagle, and another 50 of Winchester T&P. This is my second brand new Kimber pistol, other is a Micro 9 in FDE, that Ive had 0 issues or hiccups with out of the box. The firearm and accessories it came with are fantastic. I was even able to take advantage of Kimbers 1911 Summer Sizzler rebate to save up to $330 on accessories that included $150 online credit plus 3 factory magazines. Huge score! I ordered two extended 10 round plus an 8rnd magazine. The trigger and action cycling function of this Independence 1911 is very true and crisp. Making is a BLAST to shoot! Oh and that reminds me, the compensator barrel bushing is a great addition and adds to the easy of shooting and enjoyment of this gun. This pistol does not kick like a typical 1911 firing .45 ACP with it at all! About the online ordering issues. It turns out SOSS's online payment system is very picky/sensitive and did not like a myriad/host of parameters I entered and is very picky though unspecific in the error. I will say that I had recently moved and I am sure that was part of the problem. But I had to contact customer service support many times both via email and over the phone in the span of 1-2 weeks in attempt to get help. Unfortunately it was to no avail for the first week and I spent far too much time and trouble trying to get my combination order of ammo, Remington gun oil wipes, and the Kimber pistol ordered. Eventually I got in touch with someone higher up like a team lead or manager and thankfully she helped get my order all squared away. If I recall correctly they had recently changed their call center and/or online platform for ordering of something earlier last year 2025 and things were a total mess. They do handle large volumes of inquiries and ordered too. Sometimes it take continued persistence and I must say all said and done, it was well worth if for this iconic piece of American Independence in a modern remake of Brownings 1911 sidearm pistol in which we were back-to-back World War champions!
