After watching this double stack 1911/2011 double stack for awhile, we decided to get one. We already own the exceptional Carry 9 single stack, so now we have the DS also. The price here was better than competitors and shipping fast! At the range, we fed it 115gr FMJ, 124gr JHP, 147gr JHP, and critical defense. It fed everything we threw at it flawlessly. Sight are dead on from 15 to 50 yards. The two 17 round mags are high quality. We ran the 1911 DS hard, from slow fire to rapid fire without any issues. Quality fit and finish, extremely acceptable price range, and exceptionally reliable.
My Tisas DS did not shoot straight out of the box. A Wilson bushing and spring plunger helped, but it still shoots low and left. The front sight is too tall with no remedy. Tisas customer service is nonexistent. Most folks are adding a red dot to get it to shoot, some with difficulty. It’s a reliable shooter, just hard to get on target. I know how to shoot a pistol, don’t blame me.
I'm truly amazed at how well my first 100 rounds went. The accuracy and consistency with different ammunition were absolutely impressive—I had never gotten results like this before. I recommend polishing your contacts well and adding the Guide Rod Full Length and the 12LB Recoil Spring from Wilson Combat. With these two upgrades, I guarantee you'll have a high-quality pistol in your hands without having to spend thousands of dollars.
Bought this gun because of the price, very impressed. The barrel-to-bushing fit was good and tight. Gun feels good in the hand, optics-ready. The only thing I would change is getting a full-length guide rod. Trigger is okay and shoots good.
The price, free shipping, no CC fees, what a deal. Very happy I got this handgun.
The Tisas 1911 Carry Double Stack 9mm is a solid pistol overall. It’s accurate, runs well, and feels great in the hand. The optic-ready feature is a nice bonus, and the double-stack mags give you plenty of capacity. The only downside I ran into was that no weapon lights fit the rail out of the box. I had to order an adapter from QVO Tactical to get my TLR light to fit properly, which was a bit of a hassle. Other than that, I’ve been really happy with it.
I've owned 1911s since 1980, various brands, calibers, and barrel lengths, so it's not like I'm new to the format. Ordered & received the Tisas 1911 Carry Double Stack 9mm Optic Ready Pistol with 4.25-Inch Barrel after reading glowing reports from owners of other Tisas models. After picking it up @ FFL dealer, examined it closely before taking it home, took it home & stripped down for a clean. Parts look nicely finished. Barrel hood fits snug against slide, barrel bushing slides off easily, but when locked up, no play between barrel & bushing. Frame to slide fit is good too, no rattles. Trigger is a little heavier than I like, but not too bad. Took to range with 115 gr FMJ, 124 gr FMJ & JHP, 147 gr FMJ & JHPs. Start shooting @ my usual target, begin @ 7 yds. Close so I can see where bullets are hitting. Not good. Shooting way too low and on the left edge of the target, almost off the 8.5 X 11 paper target. Try all my ammo, same thing... way too low & to the left. I try adjusting my sight picture. Finally, while aiming @ the upper right corner on the paper, the bullets are hitting close to the center of the target. Again, this is @ 7 yds. Disgusted with the performance of my new 1911, I go home, clean it, & put away. A few days later, hit the range again, bring my Bul Armory 1911 Cmdr., also in 9mm, for a comparison. Same response as my 1st outing. My Bul is stacking rnds in the 1 square I use as my aim point. Contact Tisas, get authorization & a label for a return after sending a pic of my target. Get gun back w/ target showing rds tightly stacked just below bullseye, & letter says pistol meets their accuracy standards. I wonder if my pistol shot that target. Anyway, guess it must be me, since Tisas shooter shows it's a tackdriver. I had a few feeding issues the first few magazines, but it has been functioning reliably since. That's why I gave it a 3 for overall rating. I just find the accuracy for me shooting it unsatisfactory. I'll be putting my Tisas up for sale, & I won't be buying another one.
